LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:

This is for a website similar to stackoverflow.com that will be provide community driven questions and answers on Biblical topics. It's goal it self descriptive: To help people find the best (or at least pretty good) answers to any Biblical topic. It will be very open to many perspectives rather than trying to sell one particular sub-branch of Christianity. It's aim is to find the best experts on particular aspects of the Bible and have those be the people who answer the appropriate questions - though it is open to even average joes with limited knowledge of the Bible to both ask and answer questions. It may see a variety of perspectives on any given question.

HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:

A logo: It will be used primarily on a website (non-existent yet) called bestbibleanswers.com. It, or a part of it, should be able to be easily turned into an icon for the icon in browser's address bars. It may also be used for stationary, business cards, stickers, etc.

The logo could say "Best Bible Answers" or bestbibleanswers.com. There is no particular preference for any specific letter casing, etc. We just need the name in there.

The main goals are simplicity, cleanliness, a few interesting colors, modern, good font choice, and the ability to use the logo in a variety of places. It should be able to work against a dominately white background such as on paper, etc.

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:

Primarily Christians, but could be anyone who has questions about the Bible they would like to find an answers for.

WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:

stackoverflow (stackoverflow.com) provides a great example of what we want. Simple, clean, a few interesting (but not too many) colors, and part of the logo which can easily be extracted into an icon. Zune (zune.com), provides another good example.

Google has a nice logo, but it does use a little too many striking colors for our goals.

Microsoft is nice, but maybe a little too plain.

bing (bing.com),XBox, and are good.

CNN/FoxNews - a little too much for what we want.

WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:

It is okay to use a picture of a Bible as long as it has a simpleness and modern feel to it. We would rather not see this as a part of the logo if it feels too traditional or stodgey.

Don't let the "Bible" concept be too limiting of your ideas, a picture of the Bible is neither a bonus nor a drawback. It really depends upon the overall feel of the logo whether or not it should be included. Simplicity, cleanliness, moderness, good font selection, good choice of a small number of complimentary colors are much more important.
