LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
The product is a resource website for people to search for baby names, the name's meanings, origins, etymology, etc. The website is called OhBabyNames.com. You can see the template placeholder at http://www.ohbabynames.com/index1.php. I am in the process of redesigning the entire site, but would like to start with a logo and build from there. The current design should not influence you; I do not like it right now. I am looking for a fresh start with a great logo.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
I need a logo which will reside in the top left hand corner of the website. I would also use this logo for business cards and stationary eventually, but not immediately. My primary concern right now is the logo for the website.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Pregnant women (~50%), as well as expectant fathers, friends and family of pregnant women, general people interested in looking up their own names. I expect the demographics to look something like this: 80/20 for women vs. men; will likely index high in terms of household income and education; 70% of the traffic will probably be in the age range 25+ (so primarily adults). There are a few ways I want people to think/feel at my site. The logo should reflect lightness and fun. When people are searching for baby names, it is probably the happiest time of their life. A very fun and exciting time for them. I want the logo to reflect this image. I do not want the logo to be too "babyish" - keep in mind, this is a site for adults, not children, so I want the logo to look professional and smart - but also happy. I do see myself differentiating from the competition by being slightly more intellectualized in my approach with the content. But I am still looking for that balance between smart and fun.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
I've looked at logos at similar sites, and I don't like any of them. I like the idea of separating "Oh baby!" from the word "Names". So it's all about baby names, but the Oh Baby! part of the domain name projects an element of excitement. The logo's colors will be important, because I'd like to design the rest of the site around that look and feel. I tend to gravitate to yellows, purples, oranges and sage greens. I am not really into the "pink" and "blue" thing. The colors should be soft and fun - easy on the eyes, not stark and cold. In terms of font, I am open to creative ideas. For instance, use images of toy blocks to spell out some of the words.
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
I don't have any "must-haves" other than the concepts I described above.
