LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
Mobius is an early stage for-profit social business working to enable mobility across Africa by introducing an entirely new vehicle fit for Africas degraded roads at an affordable price. Our vehicle design approach targets the purchase criteria of a wholly underserved customer demographic, emphasising affordability and practicality versus comfort and performance. Ultimately, we aim for our brand to become ubiquitous throughout Africa and synonymous with mobility (for all).
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
Were looking for a logo design that uses the words Mobius Motors together with a symbol depicting the Mbius strip to construct a brand that conveys our business in a simple, solid and modern way.
Symbol
Just like any automotive business, a clear hood-ornament emblem is essential. For consistency, the symbol used in our logo must be the same or similar to the symbol used as a hood-ornament so please consider how the symbol would look on a car. Our name is based on the Mbius strip, conveying a sense of mobility, unity and perpetuity. Our logo symbol should do the same. Thus, some depiction of the Mbius strip (e.g. Escher) should be used as the symbol in our logo. Again, this needs to easily translate into a cool hood-ornament so please consider this in your design.
Font
Our product represents a new era of mobility so our brand should be suitably modern. The font should be clean, simple and powerful. Helvetica font is a good example of this (optional). The full name of the company Mobius Motors should be included in the logo. The word Mobius should not contain an umlaut. To convey a sense of power, both words could also be capitalised (optional). The words "Mobius" and "Motors" don't necessarily need to be the same size.
Colour
To maintain consistency between the brand on our corporate materials and the brand on our vehicles, we want little or no colour in our logo. If colour is used as an accent it must be a dark/royal blue one colour at most. Please select base/accent colours from the silver, chrome, or gray palette. The logo colour should not be what makes this brand interesting; it is everything else that should.
Style
Keep it simple. We want to project a composed, robust but fresh image. The logo should be practical for a variety of uses, preferably with both dark-on-light and light-on-dark versions.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
We aim to serve the low to middle income African car consumer. Although invariably this demographic can only afford the most economical of vehicles, a sense of quality is a key factor in their purchase decision. Thus, we must convey a product that is both high quality and low price. In other words, our brand should express the same rigor and style as a western company despite the fact that our business is based in the developing world. A sense of quality is crucial.
