LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
We are two programmers that think we've developed a very useful banking application for the iPhone that is targeted specifically at Australian users. Our app is nearing completion - perhaps two or three weeks ago, and we'd absolutely love to have an icon and logo ready by then!
We're doing this as a pseudo-business, but it's really just a hobby on the side for us and we'd like that to be reflected in the artwork associated with our products. Bright, chirpy, cartoon-y style imagery that makes people smile but still informs them that this is a banking application would be ideal - not that we'd have any idea how to do that, but we hope you do!
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
We need artwork that we can use for our page on the iTunes App Store and for the application's icon itself. This means that we need an image that is 512x512 and the icon itself to be 57x57. Depending on its suitability, we may also end up incorporating the logo / larger imagery into our website, but that is yet to be designed and is non-essential.
I guess vector-y styled images would be best, but that's just the way I'd describe the caricature attached to this brief. An image like that would be great, but we're open to suggestions.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Our target audience is iPhone and iPod Touch users, obviously. Beyond that, other than the fact that this application will be solely targeted at Australian users, the demographic we have in mind is very broad. At a stretch, we guess you could say that we're looking at targeting users on the go and in a hurry, as our application will be suited to those that don't have enough time to sit down and do what could otherwise be down at their home computer!
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
We like bright colours, and attention-grabbingness. That might sound somewhat daft, but we'd like to emphasise that this should be considered a "handy little app that I need for five seconds every few hours." Therefore, we'd like a relatively simple and colourful design that is memorable enough that users won't have to browse for it every single time they look at their phone.
We quite like the look of the echidna ("Millie", attached) that was one of the mascots for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. We also love the style of cartoon in the other attached file, a caricature of one of us. Something in this style might be ideal for the larger imager but unfeasible for the icon. That said, we wouldn't mind being proven wrong. ;-)
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
To be honest, we're not too fussy and will probably be very happy with most designs. We'd really like to incorporate the name of our business (Glass Echidna) into the designs somehow, but this need not be literally. Even if there was an actual echidna made of glass somewhere, that would probably do the trick!
