LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
I'm working on a hybrid web-print magazine named either The Robosexual or Robosexual... or even Robosexual Magazine (its up to you to decide which of the 3 you'd rather work with).
My tagline as of now is "Geek => Chic | Robosexual => Intellectual." (If geek is the new chic, robosexual is the new intellectual.)
The magazine will have stuff like "Top 10 goods to make you look better," "Turn your car into a multimedia paradise," "Why do we live in 3d?," "Science made in China," "The odds of discovery," etc.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
A simple, type-based logo that is bold enough to steal someone's attention momentarily, then force them to want to read the magazine.
I'm planning to use this logo in the initial design concept for this magazine, so it'll probably only be used on the front cover and a few times inside the magazine (also online), but this might get past the concept stage and we'll have to start using it for stationary and "business stuff." I don't think that'll happen for a while, but if it does we'll probably re-hire the winner of this project.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
People who are in love with technology, people who read GQ and/or Wired and/or Seed and/or Cargo and/or Good magazines.
We want "normal" people to be interested in the magazine, yet cater mostly to the geeky crowd; much like Seed magazine except we'll be also dealing with materialistic things as well.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
Seed (http://seedmagazine.com/), Cargo (http://www.condenet.com/mags/cargomag/), the Guardian(http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en...), Good(http://www.good.is/), the Django logo (http://www.djangoproject.com/).
I like the fact that these are all incredibly simple and don't draw attention from the content of the magazine/newspaper, but they're all memorable logos. I also like the fact that they're all in either uppercase or lowercase, but not both.
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
1, 2 or 3 colors.
I'd prefer sans-serif typography, but I don't mind serif if its done well.
Ideally these designs will be in all lowercase or uppercase
Not in web 2.0 style (no wet floors or unnecessary gradients)
