Tell us what you need

What is the exact name you would like in your logo?

Grant Applied Sciences (or) Grant

What is your industry?

Other

What are the top 3 things you would like to communicate through your logo?

Innovation, Efficiency, Precision

What logo styles do you like (image + text, image only, text only, etc.)

I am looking for an image + text logo, however it would be great if the image could work in isolation.

Any use of color should reflect the words mentioned above, and the logo should represent well in grayscale and B/W. Certainly this should be a 'serious' and corporate logo rather than 'fun' or consumer oriented one.

In terms of background to the company: Grant Applied Sciences was formed in July 2012 to undertake research and development of several technology and engineering innovations, in collaboration with academic and industrial partners in the United Kingdom. It does not manufacture products, it develops intellectual property and commercializes it.

The logo should therefore resonate with organizations who might be interested in collaboration, rather than the general public. Below are some links of organizations which are in some way relevant to current projects and which are not necessarily represented by logos that I like or dislike, but do give a flavor of industry expectations:
* http://www.innovateuk.org/
* http://www.science.mod.uk/
* https://www.dstl.gov.uk/
* http://www.baesystems.com
* http://www.fnc.co.uk/
* http://www.babcockinternational.com/
* http://www.bluescopesteel.com/
* http://www.atkinsglobal.com/
* http://aerosociety.com/
* http://www.thersa.org/

The logo might capture the essence of 'Applied Sciences' in general (See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_app... ) although I do not want cliche test tubes, beakers, or other simplistic icons which might ordinarily be associated with 'science'.

In fact, the company's main areas of innovation are more diverse and include aviation technology, a underwater propulsion system, energy recovery in vehicles (on land and in air), and computer vision systems. This will change considerably over time, so something 'future-proof' is desirable.

I do like gears and cogs as a representation of 'mechanical' or systems thinking, however I fear they have been used very frequently (see http://www.wolfram.co.uk/system-modeler/... as an example, or the 'system preferences' logo on a Mac), and so any logo which incorporates them must be original.

Mathematics underpins much of the company work, so if you wish to use circles, the 'golden ratio' or Pi or indeed some other aspect, that may be interesting. But don't feel obliged to study especially!

As 'Grant Applied Sciences' is quite long, I will also be interested in the text element having variations where the emphasis is on 'Grant'.

I don't want a logo with G.A.S. or GAS as an acronym.

Do you have any other info or links you want to share?

Please do get in touch with any questions. Thanks for your interest.
