LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
We are a volunteer, non-profit organization working to protect the grizzly bears of the Chilkoot River in Haines, Alaska. Your design talents are worth more; perhaps consider this your contribution to protecting the environment.
Our mission statement below depicts the need for this unique region and the plight of these impressive bruins.
PARTNERSHIPS FOR HARMONY IN NATURE...
For more than two thousand years humans have shared the Chilkoot River Valley with salmon, brown bears and eagles. As the home for many generations of Chilkoot Natives, the land is a repository of cultural significance, as well as prime wildlife habitat. The lower river corridor is currently used by local residents and travelers for subsistence and sport fishing, for wildlife viewing and commercial tourism. Increased pressure on the resource has called into question whether the balance of human and bear activity can continue. The Alaska Chilkoot Bear Foundation works to forge partnerships to ensure that all elements of the ecosystem will continue to exist in harmony for generations to come.
Please visit our website to see the natural beauty of the Chilkoot River and see why we are working so hard to protect it.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
We are interested in an earthy and holistic logo design that can satisfy many utilities. The logo will present our Foundations image on letterhead, website banners, promotional t-shirts and hats, and our bi-annual newsletter.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Our membership is comprised of conservation conscious individuals from around the world. Most often bear viewers are attracted to our website after visiting the Chilkoot River and observing firsthand the apparent conflict between people and bears, and then acting on their innate sense to join our cause to help promote positive change. We also need to project a certain level of professionalism as we provide scientific comments to decision making agencies and apply for grant funding to philanthropic foundations.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
We are approaching this contest with an open mind, and understand that you are the graphic designers. The use of neutral tones, natural colors, and circular designs are appealing. Please use original artwork or copyright-free clipart. If graphics are used, those consistent with our mission include: forests, rivers, trees, salmon, eagles, bears, and bear tracks.
As an example, the uploaded design would serve our need for a logo which would be attractive on hats and t-shirts, yet professional enough for stationary and newsletters.
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
We are a conservation based organization, not to be confused with animal welfare society; so please, nothing cute, cuddly, or vaguely reminiscent of Care Bears.
Thanks for the interest in our contest, and know that we will use your logo design to help save one of Alaskas most valuable resources. Top three rated entries will be eligible to receive a complimentary 1-yr membership, and well send the contest winner a free t-shirt.
