Vision
Something that hearken to that mythical period of swords and warriors would be preferred. A motif showing different blades could be interesting, such as the wings of guns/knives for The Expendables logo or the iconic Iron Throne for Game of Thrones. The logo should not have sole focus on the Japanese sword or be cartoony.

Social Media Asset Needs
We'll need the usual resized versions of logos for the various social media platforms, as well as a simplified/condensed version for thumbnails, avatars, etc.
Additional Info
Besides attracting a community of people to participate, we'll be targeting certain sponsors such as Albion Swords Ltd and Arms and Armour. We also hope to continue a relationship with the Arms and Armour department of the Metropolitan Museum in New York and develop relationships with other museums in order to continue generating content.
Competitors included Myarmoury.com and Sword Forum International (swordforum.com).
