Red Stripe Strategy
What do you do?
Red Stripe Strategy is a newly-formed Chicago-based marketing and brand strategy consultancy with a unique backstory. Most marketing consultancy's are formed with former ad agency strategists, MBAs, and other industry types. We take a different approach. We were founded by an ex-CIA analyst and targeting officer with the idea of bringing the analytic prowess, insights, and (some of the) methods that CIA analysts have used to advise the President to very small businesses.

Describe the target audience for your logo and stationery
The primary target is owners of very small or small businesses in Chicago, with a secondary target of marketing managers at medium-sized companies in the Chicago area. Small or very small business owners are busy and passionate about their product/service but either are not inclined towards marketing or don't have time to deal with it. That said, they're hiring us because they realize something is missing from their marketing.
What 3 things would you like to communicate to your audience through your logo and stationery?
We like idea of playing off the CIA theme but not getting carried away with it or falling into traditional tropes for spying. We'd like something that pays homage to our founding, but also presents a professional, creative, modern image.
Style and Concept
What logo and stationery styles do you like (text only, image only, text and image, etc.)?
I'm open to any type of logo. We currently have two logos. One is the a simple red stripe down the right side of the image with the words Red Stripe Strategy written vertically in the "Boycott" typeface. The second is also in Boycott, but Red Stripe Strategy is stacked and a red stripe runs along the right side creating a square.
What colors do you want to see in your logo and stationery?
The only thing I'm set on is having a deep red somewhere in the logo. Right now we're using #990000, r153 g0 b0 but are open to other variants. The whole logo shouldn't be red, but we need to keep at least the idea of a red stripe.
What colors do you NOT want to see in your logo and stationery?
I don't want a black background for business cards since they're scratch too easily.
What adjectives should best describe your logo and stationery?
I like a sleek design, nothing too busy. We try to present ourselves as professional but not stuffy, creative but focused. There's a fine line we're trying to walk. On one hand, we like playing up the unconventional background and some of the imagery and mystery of the CIA since it's something extremely unique and quick attention grabber. On the other hand, we don't want to scare people away who either have a negative association with the CIA or who might think we don't know what we're doing because we don't have a traditional marketing/advertising pedigree.
Where will your logo be used (print, website, etc.)?
General use - Website/social media, business cards, invoices, etc.
Do you have additional info or links you want to share?
Our website is redstripestrategy.com, just to get a sense of where the logo will go online. Also, we use the tagline "Intelligence in Marketing." We like the idea of that being on the card. We also want room for our social media usernames (specifically Facebook and Twitter).
