Logo Design Brief
We are revamping the design of our logo for Hutch Electric. It was homemade and created 20 years ago. We would like to update it to a more contemporary and graphic feel. Right now we feel that the overlapping text, mix of script and print text, and lightning bolts make it difficult to read. We would like to keep a blue color (not necessarily the same blue) for the "HUTCH" that we have in our current logo. We would like to keep the "HUTCH" in the logo to have some continuity and recognition as we change the logo
We will use the logo on correspondence, invoices, business cards, uniform shirts, advertising, website (www.hutchelectric.com) and social media and will incorporate it into a design to put on our white service vans (some of these will be follow on projects).
The business is Electrical contracting with a focus on service/troubleshooting/repair/installation work in existing homes, offices, commercial buildings or industrial settings (not new construction). We also do some limited office build out and home/condo remodeling projects. We are a small company with 10 employees and we work with the upper end of the market/customers in our area. We have a great word of mouth reputation and most business is by referral or from repeat customers. We do not promote or advertise at this time but usually have a 2 week backlog.
Our customers are a mix of homeowners, building or property managers, and general remodeling contractors. The homeowners tend to be older based on our location in southwest Florida. Generally a B2C targeting for the logo and graphics and the business card.
Our customers pay a premium for our experience and expertise and we rarely have to go back to a customer to repair/warranty our own work. Our tagline could be "we get it right the first time" or "your last electrician" or "your favorite electrician" or "not the cheapest but the least expensive". Our master electricial has an encyclopediadic knowledge of the electrical code, various lighting and installation options and 30 years of varied experience to back it all up. He is a unique resource for our customers and part of our overall value (expertise).
Our preference is for a logo with a "character" + text (i.e. michelin man) or electrical related "graphic" + text
A service person or service person related graphic might complement the text. We could incorporate a cartoonish photo of our master electrician as a service person (example, not great, cartoon headshot attached). We could provide better photo if this idea is appealing.
If that does not work, then electricity related graphics might be appropriate. We took a quick shot at cleaning it up ourselves with a logo template website (also attached)
