We are a socially integrated, interactive hub bringing a brand spankin new approach to strengthening and promoting opera - a place where users make vital connections in the opera community, both online and offline. Right now we only look to reach a national audience, but have the potential to go global.

HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
-Logo that will find its place on the banner of our website and printed material (biz cards, letterhead, clothing, etc). Please include the catch phrase in the design.
-Mascot that will function with or without the logo.
We are looking for an instantly-recognizable logo that firmly establishes our brand identity and distinguishes us from a much older and tired approach to the opera business. A lot of us in the opera community are tired of a dry, high-brow approach to news, resources, and production information and we need our logo to bring opera into the 21st century. We want the logo to show our users that this is not only new, but fun, modern, engaging and important.
Along with the logo we would like an opera singer (2D?) mascot. We thought that an appropriate name would Antonio Pavarucci. We would like him to be similar in design to the logo as we intend him to be used in an animation style marketing campaign with our national sponsors and venues. We thought that he might have a tux and needs to look friendly, charismatic, approachable, and above all fun!
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Our main target audience is the younger opera lover and singer, but we dont want a logo that would scare away the "blue hairs."
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
Were thinking bright, bold colors for our logo. Something that looks as modern/simple as Twitter, Facebook, and even Samsung but also has theme association in it like Subway and Tivo. We also would like you to consider the classiness and seeming importance of About.com and BlogBeat. We think this is a really cool task because, well, basically you cant go wrong!
Weve included a paint doc that one of our colleagues designed for some inspiration. We like the modernity of it and especially like the lime (electric) green pulse. We would love to see a pro take this idea in new directions with some really awesome laser like electric green for the pulse. Just a suggestion
The pdf is a mascot design that we like. We do not want to repeat what the Metropolitan Opera has with their recently added Figaro character: http://www.metoperafamily.org/metopera/n... maybe we do want a 3D character.
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
Fun and approachability.
There really is no restriction to this project. However, we dont really want to see any hearts. Unless of course you can design something amazing and make us shove our shoes in our mouths!
