LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
Back to Earth Films. We are a new, small, UK-based film company. Our current focus is on making short documentaries for non-profits working on health, development and environmental issues. We hope to make longer documentaries and features in future.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
We need a company logo, to be used on our website, on stationery, on communications materials and, most importantly, to appear in credits at the end of our films. It is very important, therefore, that the logo is clear and simple and works on the screen.
We would also like to have designs for stationery/letterhead and business cards using the logo.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Our audiences are very varied. The logo needs to have wide appeal. However, we will commissioned by both Media and Communications departments and experts on global development issues, so need to appeal to both.
Key phrases / words we want the logo to communicate are: professionalism; simplicity; truth; honesty; tell it like it is; humanity; global; nature; caring.
The logo should feel fresh but warm. Although the themes are of humanity and nature we want to avoid any hippy connotations. On the other hand, we want to avoid appearing too corporate. The company should feel approachable yet professional and stylish.
WE LIKE THESE EXAMPLES:
Things we like include: the mix of handwritten with type or type with illustration; mixed fonts; simple hand drawn logos.
Here are some examples:
Possibly combining things - e.g. a tree and a person in one or figure hugging text? (we are not suggesting that necessarily, but playing with these ideas might be interesting)
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE THIS IN OUR PIECE:
Company name, with correct capitalization: Back to Earth Films or alternatively all lower case back to earth films
Natural, muted colors: e.g. off-white / cream background; darkish blue, turquoise, dark or olive green, chocolate brown etc.
Keep it simple just one to three colors on an off-white / cream background. (The logo must work on other color backgrounds, too, though)
