What do you do?

We are a financial consulting firm advising high net worth individuals on their investments.
Our job consists in selecting the portfolio of securities in which to invest our clients' money.
All of our investments are selected on the basis of Value Investing principles (buying securities for less of what theyre worth), with an emphasis on risk avoidance.
It is important for the designer to at least have some idea of what Value Investing implies. Our approach is not the typical Wall Street approach to investing. We invest only when, after valuing the company, we find that it sells at a discount.
Compared to our competition our approach is safer, and the time horizon over which we expect our investments to bear fruit is longer. We focus more on the fundamentals (which means we put a lot of effort into analyzing each business whose shares we are considering buying), and we disregard market opinions of where the price of a security is headed over the short term.

You'll receive designs for biz cards, letterhead and envelopes.

We are working on a brochure/magazine which we intend to give to prospective clients. It will describe our investment strategy, its' advantages over other strategies, and some investment examples.

We might also want to negotiate the design for this product with the winner. We would give you all the written information.

Describe the target audience for your logo and stationery

Our target audience is basically high net worth individuals looking for an alternative to diversify their assets. Their ages typically range from 35 to 65.
They're usually business owners.

What 3 things would you like to communicate to your audience through your logo and stationery?

1. Safety (by far the most important concept we want to convey).
2. Professionalism - we know what we're doing.
3. Our clients get good retuns on their capital.

Style and Concept

What logo and stationery styles do you like (text only, image only, text and image, etc.)?

It seems to us that either text & image, or text only would work. We believe image only will lack the ability to link us to our clients. However if someone disagrees and comes up with something interesting we will gladly consider it.

We are also open to logos including MIG as text instead of Mercor Investment Group.

What colors do you want to see in your logo and stationery?

We want something that looks professional, serious and safe. We think we can use dark colors such as dark blue, dark brown or dark purple. The point is to reflect an image of professionalism in managing our clients money.

What colors do you NOT want to see in your logo and stationery?

We don't have any specific colors we don't want, however it seems to us that perhaps bright colors such as orange, red or yellow will not properly convey the message. But we won't mind being proven wrong.

What adjectives should best describe your logo and stationery?

Safety, professionalism, experience, expertise.

Where will your logo be used (print, website, etc.)?

In the short term it will be used in print, but eventually in a website as well.
