LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
Sommers Oil company is a family-owned business that sells branded and independent fuel to gas stations, governments, factories, power companies and marinas in the southeast United States. We carry the BP, Shell, Sunoco and Marathon brands as well as our own, independent brand known as El Cheapo (sounds funny, but with 150 locations it's a hit in the southeast).
We are known for our value-based pricing structure, reliability and customer focus. While we are now considered a wholesale distribution company, our roots are in retail convenience stores. Thus are clients can be assured that we have knowledge of all aspects of their business.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
We need a logo that will first be used in our website design. On down the road, we might (or not) put it in stationery and business cards and other marketing materials. Right now our focus is getting an up and running website!
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Our customers are diverse -- from gas station owners to purchasing agents at power companies. Yet most are not finding us through a website search. Instead, this industry relies more on referrals. We'd like our customers to think that we are friendly, honest and hard working. We want to be seen as a company that is big enough to get high-volume discount pricing yet small enough to give personal service to each of our clients.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
Well, we're easy. We like a lot of things. We've used blue for our company letterhead and also for the logo of our hauling division, Southeastern Fuel Transport. We've used red for our company franchise El Cheapo. This industry is known for its chevrons...the BP helios, the Chevron mark...etc. Simple and clean is what we prefer. We don't see the need to have a fuel/flame/gas light mark that is obvious. We can see using the S in Sommers and creating a mark around that, or using the name in a font style that would in itself be a logo.
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
Nothing that would tie us to a major oil company--either in color or type of mark. Keep in mind those are Texaco, Shell, BP, Sunoco, Marathon, Exxon, Chevron, Phillips 66, etc...
