LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
doingtonight.com is a listing of places to eat and drink across the country including a directory of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, fast food and event listings (parties, concerts, shows, etc). The directory will include everything from Taco Bell in the suburbs, to a 5 star restaurant in the city. Almost all of the content will be user-generated in real-time, requiring visitors/users to be active participants in the content and quality of the site. The site will be powered by a web-based, and mobile powered dynamic search engine that allows users to target/segment the type of establishment/event they are looking for and provide quick, concise and relevant feedback. Feedback will be both reflective (review) and streaming in real-time.
A list of terms to describe the site may include: food, drink, real-time, streaming, directory, search, share, information, find, find out, invite, discover, new, popular, updated, accurate, user-generated, eat, drink, party, social network, friends
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
Please provide a logo with the below listed variations. The logo will appear predominantly on the website, including all associated web/print collateral and apparel. The logo will also be used as a small "sponsor" logo at the bottom of event fliers.
* Looking for fresh, clean, web 2.0 look
* Not overly simple to be able to recreate easily (or at all) but also not complicated enough to intimidate or confuse
* Must be easy to read when extremely small (commonly at the very bottom of a party flier)
* Must stand-out when very large (banners, print collateral, etc)
Stationary (please wait for logo feedback first)
* Business Card
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
The user experience is flexible to how the user interacts with the site and, therefore, allows us to appeal to a wide ranging demographic from 21-45 years of age. As a result, the logo must incorporate a balance so as to not be too immature for elder visitors, and not too intimidating/lame for juniors in college. It should also aim to be income-agnostic, catering to people looking for everything from Taco Bell to a 5 star restaurant or from a dive bar to a bottle-service only nightclub.
Given that a significant amount of interaction with the site will come from mobile users, our target demographic will likely be the kinds to download apps for their iPhone.
At first blush, the audience should have a clear impression on what the site does. It should also encourage them to engage with the site by making them feel "cool" to be a member of the user community.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
Please submit drafts frequently so that proper feedback/direction can be given. Feedback will be given quickly and frequently.
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
MUST HAVE FLEXIBILITY:
* Will possibly be used in sentences including "what are they doingtonight?"
Depending on which way your creative juices flow, you may view doingtonight as a question or as a statement. However, a question mark is NOT required, but may be included if it fits in the design well. This is completely up to your discretion.
DO NOT LIKE:
We do not want creatives that use an acronym as the logo. For example, anything that uses "dt" is, and will be uninteresting to us. Also try to avoid overdone concepts depicting food and drink that you might find in clipart. We're looking for real barriers of entry.
