LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
SocialRaves is a local search and social networking platform that brings buyers and sellers of local products and services together via the Internet and mobile platforms. Our goal is to build a great website where people can go to get advice and recommendations on great local businesses from the people they trust -- their family, friends, and their network. At the same time, we provide local businesses an advertising platform and a robust local search experience that allows them not only to be discovered, but more importantly, also promoted by their most loyal customers who rave about how great these business are and the products/services that they provide to the community.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
We need a logo, business card, and stationery designed. Our hope would be to extend the design to the overall look and feel of our website (under development). Depending on the outcome of this project, we may ask the winning designer to help us with the design of our home page, plus a few internal pages.
Here are a few thoughts to consider for the creative. Given our target audience, and what our site is about, the logo needs to convey or evoke the feeling of being hip, vibrant, energetic, and exciting. We want a logo that is highly visual and appealing, consistent with the young, affluent, and educated audience we are targeting. The logo has to feel accessible and engaging, and make our target want to be associated with the brand, and the site. The site we are creating is highly social, so any creative element that suggests or connotes interactivity and community would be helpful, if not desired.
We want a logo that is timeless over trendy since we expect to be around for a long, long time. So, please no glitter, 3-D animation, and other heavy treatments. Think simple. Think clean.
Go easy on the colors and use two or three colors maximum. We tend to favor blue and orange because of the emotions that these (supposedly) evoke: freedom and truth (blue), and youthfulness and fire (orange). That said, the logo also has to translate well in black and white.
An abstract logo like may not be best since we want to score immediate brand identification. A text only logo would be fine. A text-and-graphics combination might work as well. In this case, a round graphic is probably preferable over other shapes (e.g., square) because of softer edges.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Our target audience skews younger (i.e., ages of 18-34), slightly more female, is highly educated, and with relatively higher disposable incomes. While the primary focus of the site are residents of each local market we enter, SocialRaves also caters to "transients," visitors, and tourists of the same demographic with high information needs and want to know what their options are for activities, dining, shopping, entertainment, things to do, places to see, etc.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
Not sure if this will be helpful at all, but we like the overall "look and feel" and execution of these logos/websites and their color palette:
