My partner and I are budding social entrepreneurs. We've found a new directive outside of the corporate world, and decided to take on social issues that are bigger than us. Coincidentally, that is the name of our company.
The name of our company is 'It's Bigger Than You'. We chose the name because its whimsicality, but in the correct context, creates the foundation of our mission.
Our mission is to assist the United Nation Millennium project (www.unmillenniumproject.org) in achieving its eight millennium development goals by promoting and creating strategic humanitarian campaigns in towns that are predominately college/university run.
The HAVE: Because we want this program to be attractive to university students, young professionals, urban hipsters .... well, anybody looking to 'give back' outside of normal means, it should be simple, attractive, and create an emotional tie immediately. The colors should be slightly conservative, as the stationary and website will follow the same color theme. The logo should be whimsical, as the name, but if it could somehow tie into a humanitarian overall theme, that would be a plus. We think that an '80's theme might even be really cool.
The HAVE NOT: The logo and stationary should NOT have a charity feel. The company and its projects may have charitable intentions, but its immediate attraction should be to its whimsical, but emotional draw.
