LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
EXPEDIENS is a service to enable people to buy free time. It does this by allowing members to pay for tasks they need to be done to be carried out by Expediens.
Services may include:
-Organising Tradesmen
-Housework
-Helping with entertaining
-Switching providers
-Collecting/Delivering
-Waiting in line or in the home
-Personal shopping/ gift buying
-Booking and organising entertainment
-Travel Services
The service is a person to person relationship based offering, accessible through all four main channels (text, phone, web. Email). It is at the value end of the pricing spectrum, and yet still offers capability to deliver a vast range of services to the highest quality standards in a way in which the members can have great trust.
The target customer is the cash rich, time poor person. This may include 25-35 year old professionals, or young families, or empty nesters. The initial focus will be on Edinburgh (Scotland) however we see great opportunity to grow to a multi-city offering in due course.
Our USP: We allow you to buy back time.
The concept is to allow people to buy back time. We believe that people feel that they are busier than ever and that basic tasks often take up time that they would rather use doing other things. We provide a service that allows them to outsource these tasks, effectively buying back some free time, exchanging a modest amount of cash in exchange for valuable free minutes and hours which they can fill with things that they perceive to be more valuable.
Our business offers to carry out these tasks for people who are willing to pay/subscribe for this service. Currently there are several other companies that do this, however we would anticipate that our service would also be targeted at the mass market and as such would include basic tasks and at a lower price point.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
We need a logo and stationary for our business. We actually need a full brand identity, stationary, web-site design and print design. However since one doesn't have a one big project option were just starting with the logo. We hope that the winning logo would lead us on to a relationship with the right designer to develop things further.
LOGO:
The logo must incorporate the word EXPEDIENS.
EXPEDIENS is the latin root of expedient (http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/expedient).
This logo is to be used on a website, business cards, stationary, other printed material and possible further down the line on clothing or vehicles.
Colours
We expect our website to be either mainly black or white in colour and so it should be able to sit well with that. The logo itself, if in colour, must be able to work monochromatically as well.
Design Thoughts
The logo must fit with the market we are pursuing. The market is under 50 (generally), familiar with buying services and appreciates high-end products. Simplicity is crucial in an environment with increasingly complex banking, arcane cellular contracts and confusing websites. Since our market aspires to higher-end products and services we will design to respect that. The bordered blobs of Windows Vista or many Web 2.0 sites should be avoided. In a recession many will retreat to quality. Though we do not have a track record of quality (yet) a more austere look is far more likely to appeal than a "funky" or "fun" look.
STATIONARY:
We require business cards designed.
We also need a letter-head.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
The target customer is the cash rich, time poor person. The market is under 50 (generally), familiar with buying services and appreciates high-end products. This includes 25-35 year old professionals, or young families, or empty nesters. The initial focus will be on Edinburgh however we see great opportunity to grow to a multi-city offering in due course.
We expect, but dont assume, these individuals to be internet-savvy. As such we require a logo that is straightforward and fits easily with the service. It would be ideal if the logo was able to grow with the brand so that it doesnt narrow the product offering.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
Even though we are from Scotland it is very important that there is NO tartan or Scottish flags. Unlike America where the StarsnStripes are used for all kinds of products in Scotland there is a real aversion to using the national symbols in any way other than very abstractly. You have been warned.
Also, pink would not be a good colour.
