LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
Knowcleus (sounds similar to nucleus, but with a "no" instead of a "nu") is a standardized test prep company with a focus on results/performance based tutoring. We charge $15/hr + $X/point. For example, if you worked 50 hours with a tutor and your SAT score increased 300 points, you would pay $15/hr * 50hrs + $7/point * 300points = $2,850. It sounds expensive, but that's okay because now we're going to Georgia Tech, MIT, Harvard, Stanford, etc.!
The initial focus to hold intense weekend test prep classes for the SAT, ACT, GMAT, GRE, MCAT, and LSAT. These weekend courses (Saturday and Sunday from 9am - 6pm) will serve 3 purposes:
1. Generate cash,
2. As a primer (content review and some questions), and
3. As a feeder into results based private tutoring.
Initially I will be teaching most of the classes because that is my expertise. I have other tutors to pass the clients along to for results based tutoring. Down the road, I will have additional teachers. I also plan to get into the online realm of tutoring in the next year via services such as Webex.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
I need a logo for Knowcleus. I would prefer the logo to just be Knowcleus, not Knowcleus Education. Since Knowcleus doesn't say anything about what we do, I think it might be a good idea to somehow indicate that we provide test prep / educational services (pencil, books, success, happiness, school, college, etc.), but at the same time something different and unique. I'm always a fan of creative and off the wall designs too! I also need business cards and some basic stationary. Stationary is the least important. The logo will be used on business cards, flyers (posted around town), website, brochures, and stationary.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Our target audience is high school parents (upper middle classish) for our precollege services (SAT and ACT) and college students as well as recent college grads (GMAT, GRE, MCAT, and LSAT). I want customers to see me a unique because I'm a unique guy, and I need something unique so that I can market with maximum effectiveness ;-) However, it can't be too too crazy otherwise middle aged parents won't take me seriously.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
I tend to prefer designs that are simpler in nature (not too "busy"), but not overly simplistic. Don't be afraid to go out a limb. I like Facebook even though it has gotten a bit cluttered over the past few years. I've considered using a bright somewhat neon orange or maybe a bright somewhat neon green, but please don't limit yourself to that. One of my favorite fonts is Garamond, but again don't limit yourself.
I'm competing with companies like Kaplan, The Princeton Review, Examcrackers, Powescore, etc. With that in mind, I want something a little more fun. Those other guys are boring and unoriginal, very institutional. Education in general is very institutional; however, I would like to stray from that mold a bit.
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
The uploaded file is some piece of junk marketing flyer that I threw together a few weeks ago before I came up with the better name of Knowcleus. Don't take much away from it. Pink Prep was a terrible name and color for that matter. I just figured I'd upload it to get you more perspective on things. I'll also be looking for a basic web design and brochure if you're interested in doing that as well, let me know! Also, let me know if you think up a good tagline ("Tap your Knowcleus", etc.) Thanks so much for your help! I'm a first timer crowdspringer and am very excited to see what comes up! Cheers!
