LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
This is logo/letterhead design for a new marketing firm being started by a sole individual. I've selected the name INSiGHT Marketing & Media because the companies I'm going to primarily target are in an industry in which I have a great deal of experience - the yachting biz. Prior to starting this firm, I was the advertising sales director for two marine magazines, one in the power boat market and the other a sailing magazine. As such, I meet with marketing executives from yachting companies all over the world. Now, with INSiGHT, I'll be able to provide marine marketers a perspective which no other individual can. In addition to knowing the positioning and tactics of most marine brands, I also know the marine magazines extremely well. So, whether negotiating ad rates or devising a PR strategy, I have an added advantage. All of which is to say, marine companies that hire me will gain an insight on the market that they could not gain on their own. However, I do not want a logo that is specific to the marine market. I want to be able to maintain flexibility and position INSiGHT to capture non-marine clients in the future.
The Marketing & Media portion of the name references the fact that Ill provide a broad range marketing services, as well as media (advertising) buying services.
Lastly, my tagline is planned to be, Clear vision. Better results.
I wish I could offer more $ for this, but at this point I have to keep it modest. I may pay the winning submission more in the future, when I can afford it.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
I need a logo for incorporation into all types of communication tools business cards, printed promotional collateral, within e-newsletters, within a web site, and on shirts.
In addition, Id like a design incorporating this logo into letterhead, business envelopes, mailing labels, and note pads.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Owners and marketing directors of small-to-medium size businesses.

I've attached files of my own logo ideas and designs. The first is a sketch that I quickly drew when I was first developing plans for this new company. The others are my own attempt to design something. As you'll note, I like the idea of using all upper case for "INSiGHT," except the "i." This provides two things, (1.) the possibility of turning the dot of the i into an eye, suggesting vision or insight, and (2.) a logo that involves some graphic element beyond just the font. IMO, a graphic element will make this company name much more memorable.
Since many marine logos use the color blue, I prefer to stay away from this color in order to be more distinctive in that arena.
All that said, I'm open to new ideas, which is why I'm using crowdSPRING. no doubt you design professionals are much better at this stuff than me! Bring it on!
