The Education Exchange
What do you do?
The Education Exchange is the largest provider of adult literacy services in southern Rhode Island. Our adult education and job skills training programs are designed to help adults gain the skills and confidence they need to achieve their goals in further education, the workplace, and the community. In addition to GED preparation and testing, the Education Exchange offers ESL classes, computer training programs, training for entry-level healthcare workers, resume writing workshops, and other programs for adults who are undereducated, unemployed, and/or looking to further their success in the workplace.
What is the exact name you would like in your logo?
The Education Exchange / Learning for Life [tag-line]
What pieces of stationery do you need designed (biz cards, letterhead, etc.)?
standard stationery - business cards & letterhead
What is your industry?
Adult education, GED testing, computer classes, and job skills training
Describe the target audience for your logo and stationery
The Education Exchange provides literacy programs and job skills training for adults throughout southern Rhode Island. Those served by the Education Exchange are a diverse group, with our adult learners ranging from young adults (17-24) looking for a GED to retirees hoping to learn basic computer skills. Many are unemployed or underemployed, but others are business managers or owners who are looking to use technology more effectively. What our adult learners have in common is the desire to improve their skills, achieve their goals, and make a positive change in their lives.
In addition to adult learners, the Education Exchange reaches out to potential supporters and funders (government, corporate, and foundations). Our logo and stationery should be appealing to a professional audience.
What 3 things would you like to communicate to your audience through your logo and stationery?
Dependability and longevity
Forward motion (for the organization and our adult learners)
Commitment to learning (basic literacy and 21st century skills)
Style and Concept
What logo and stationery styles do you like (text only, image only, text and image, etc.)?
Text and image is the preference but we are open to creative ideas that deviate from that suggestion.
What colors do you want to see in your logo and stationery?
We are open to design ideas that use any colors. We tend to like colors that are somewhat more vibrant (vs. washed out) and that copy well, even if they are copied in B&W. It would be great to see a logo in color and grayscale, since (as a non-profit with a low marketing budget), we often print in B&W.
What colors do you NOT want to see in your logo and stationery?
We are open to different color palettes, but tend to like to see at least one vibrant color in a logo option.
What adjectives should best describe your logo and stationery?
Current and dynamic
Appealing (to young adults, older adults, businesses, foundations very wide audience)
Simple but meaningful
Where will your logo be used (print, website, etc.)?
The Education Exchange logo will be used primarily in print materials, many of which will be created and produced in-house. We also have a web-site and a facebook page; the logo will probably be used as a starting point to design a new web site in the future.
Do you have additional info or links you want to share?
We have attached our current logo. Things we like about the current logo:
Vibrancy of the maroon
Books give indication of what we do
Things we don't like as much:
Double image (not necessarily related to each other)
Green/blue color sometimes looks washed out and industrial
Books can be limiting - don't incorporate 21st century learning
In general, this project is very open to interpretation. We are hoping to receive an inspiring idea and we dont want to decide beforehand what form that will take. Please submit your ideas we would love to see them!!!
