What do you do?
We're looking to create a "Bee Charmer" character that will be used on a website and on printed materials like a yard/garden sign and stickers as part of a honeybee awareness campaign.
The campaign is initially geared toward girls and moms to build bee-friendly school gardens.
What is the exact name you would like in your logo?
No words please, just the character
You'll receive designs for biz cards, letterhead and envelopes? Do you need all of these?
We only need the character and the background imagery for an 8"x18" yard/garden sign like this only, you know, better: http://www.stormwaterpartners.org/?p=101. Don't worry about the wording, please just provide a background graphic with the character and some flourishes (like an edging) that leaves room for whatever wording we decide.
What is your industry?
Describe the target audience for your logo and stationery
Mothers as well as middle school and high school daughters interested in food quality, healthy communities, and nature. The kind of people who would lobby their schools to create pesticide-free zones we might call "secret bee gardens." People who are drawn to the idea of considering themselves "bee charmers" and protectors of our food and environment.
Our target audience lives in New Mexico, so there are both urban and rural qualities to our bee charmer and she definitely has dark hair and probably olive or tanned skin rather than extremely pale.
What 3 things would you like to communicate to your audience through your logo and stationery?
1) Bees are magical and inextricably linked to our lives.
2) Pesticides are harming the bees and harming our food quality. They need a safe haven.
3) I want to be a "bee charmer/protectress" that understands bees, their role in our world, and is strong enough to protect them.
Style and Concept
What logo and stationery styles do you like (text only, image only, text and image, etc.)?
What colors do you want to see in your logo and stationery?
The background should be or fade to white. Otherwise, we're open to all sorts of colors but especially those that look good even when scaled down to 200px.
What colors do you NOT want to see in your logo and stationery?
A predominantly pastel palette doesn't feel right here. A bit more saturated would be better.
What adjectives should best describe your logo and stationery?
Feminine but powerful and action-oriented.
Inspired and a bit magical or mysterious with secret "bee" powers.
Young but strangely wise.
Where will your logo be used (print, website, etc.)?
Website (prominently in the site header and throughout)
Printed yard sign
Do you have additional info or links you want to share?
The Bee Charmer is dressed up in the garb of a bee collector, and inside is a smart young teenage girl. The character pulls from Hermoine Granger, Lara Croft, a young scientist and Elphaba from Wicked who talks with the animals. She is magical, hip and mysterious, a protector of and partner with the bees. She wears a long, braided ponytail, is dressed in gear inspired by a beekeeping suit, and always has a few friendly bees in her midst.
Imagine her with her bee veil off in one hand, and her hand outstretched, palm up, with a bee landing or flying away. In some tiny way, she is inspired by the mythical quality of the goddess of bees but while still being very human. See: http://sathyasaibaba.files.wordpress.com....
"Secret Bee Gardens" are the magical domain of both the bees and the Bee Charmer. This is what we will call our pesticide-free school gardens.
