LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
Good Day Solar LLC is an exciting new solar electric startup, based in Boulder, Colorado.
Our mission is to use cutting-edge solar grid-tied equipment to empower a new generation of solar power users. The technology is called micro-inverters, and it's a disruptive concept that completely changes the game in solar installation. This micro-inverter system is currently only available from a company called Enphase (http://www.enphaseenergy.com). We will keep our mission very simple by using only this inverter. It's easier to install (no giant circuit breaker box needs to be mounted on your porch anymore, and the output from each panel is low-voltage AC only, not deadly DC like every other type), and at least 10% more efficient than other inverters.
That may sound complicated, but we want to keep things very, very simple. Just about every other solar installation company is tied up in the older legacy systems. Not only that, but the marketing savvy of our competition is limited by their solar geekhood, basically an engineering mindset that doesn't have Web 2.0 savvy.
Our new logo and website, etc., will reflect the emerging social media model that encourages community, communication, and open sourcing. We are completely open to creative interaction and place no limits on how the logo and stationery design will look, but sites that use Ajax, allow interaction, and have intuitive end-user functionality are what inspire us. You know what we mean...crowdspring is a damn good example.
I really hate those clutter-y, '90's-looking logos/websites that look 2D and flat.
What did I leave out? I absolutely love the crowdspring model because I get to meet and see the work of plenty of other creatives that I would never otherwise encounter.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
The logo will be used everywhere possible. I'm a huge believer in branding via great logos. From our website, to T-shirts and other cool collateral, we want a logo that shows how cool it is to go solar.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Our audience is people who are either overwhelmed by thick solar terminology and its learning curve, or others who have never consider it affordable for them. We need to educate them about how new micro-inverter technology debuts a building-block system for energy independence. You can now start with just a single panel if that's all you can afford, and add a panel at a time.
We're also going to keep overhead very low so the savings can be passed on to residential and small commercial customers.
Most people attracted to solar power panels are doing it for green reasons. The financial argument is now getting to the point where it's cheaper too, IF you have a long-term investment mentality. Other people are attracted to energy independence.
Imagine if you got just one solar panel on your roof. There's a consciousness shift when you do that, because you're no longer 100% dependent on electricity being produced by carbon-spewing coal plants. Wouldn't you rather funnel a little of your 401k money to doing that, rather than trusting the stock markets?
We will be CREATING a new type of solar energy customer by razor-focusing on the building block possibilities created by micro-inverters.
That's exciting! I hope you're inspired to do your best work ever, because we need a cutting-edge look to capture the eyeballs of a new generation, and get these panels (prices are dropping on photovoltaic modules as we speak) on a lot more rooftops.
Look around! There are roofs all over the place wasting sunshine. Let's get them outfitted.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
It will probably be more bold than subtle...but I personally don't want to limit anyone's creative vision by mentioning other logos.
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
