LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
Dealadayonline is a new website business that features great bargains every day offered by local merchants who sell their products or services to our members and are willing to give a great deal. Each day the website posts and emails to members a new "Deal of the Day" that is only available to be purchased that day. The Deals are 45-65% off regular prices, there will only be one deal per day, the deal will be available for only 24 hours and the earlier in the day that members purchase it, the more they are rewarded (with savings off the next deal purchased).
Its really simple. Members get an email every morning around 8am. If the deal of the day is of no interest, the member can just ignore it; if its something that they want, they buy the deal that day! Then, within 24 hours, they will receive a certificate via email that they will bring to the merchant to receive their discounted product or service. They have 3-6 months to use the certificate (depending on the deal).
We have launched the Home Page (3 weeks ago) and will be going live with the full website and outgoing daily emails in a few weeks. Right now we are launching in Chicago to start but hope to expand to other cities quickly.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
We need a logo that is Clean, Energetic and Engaging, that over time will be instantly recognized by consumers/members as belonging to their favorite place for Daily Deals (even from a distance, when they might not be able to read the words).
The logo should convey the idea that we are a high quality and dependable website that they want to check each day to see what the new deal of the day is!
The most important factors in in makeing our website successful are:
Obtaining a large subscriber base The value of this site for merchants will be derived directly from the number of subscribers we have.
Compelling that subscriber base to act Buy the deals!
Motivating them to spread the word virally
We will be using this logo on our shirts, business cards, letter head, invoices, truck magnets, yard signs, etc. Some of our flyers will be black and white, so the design needs to work very well when printed on white or light colored paper with a black and white laser printer.

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
While the website will tactfully deliver many targeted messages to specific demographics, the Target Audience is aged 25-45 and upwardly mobile men and women, generally in the Northside of Chicago (to start but then will be expanding to other cities).

I tend to prefer designs that are cleaner in nature (not too "busy"), but not overly simplistic. Don't be afraid to go out a limb. I like Facebook even though it has gotten a bit cluttered over the past few years. We have started to design the full website and are considering using Green and possibly a bright somewhat neon orange, but please don't limit yourself to that.

I'm competing with a company called Groupon. With that in mind, I want something a little more fun. Those other guys are boring and unoriginal.
