LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
Chesapeake Legal Alliance is a new non-profit that provides free legal services to protect and improve the Chesapeake Bay. We organize and support a network of lawyers who do pro bono legal work for environmental organizations, citizens associations, homeowners groups, watermen, and individuals in support of efforts to improve the quality of the Bay.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
We need a logo that will be used on our website, stationery, business cards, and marketing material. For now, we want designs for our letterhead and business cards that incorporate the logo.
The image should be modern and clean. We want people to see us as a trustworthy source of legal assistance, but also a forward-thinking, not-too-stodgy organization.
We are trying to communicate our commitment to the protection of wildlife, water quality, recreational activities such as sailing and fishing, and the life of the Chesapeake Bay watermen. We would like the logo to include some element that suggests clean water as well as the protection of wildlife habitat and recreational values.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
There are three components of our target audience:
Lawyers we seek to recruit it to join our network. They are involved because they are passionate about the health of the Bay. They sail or fish on the Bay on the weekends and/or are deeply committed to environmental issues.
Individuals, citizens groups, environmental organizations and others who will be our clients. They need to perceive us as a respected source of effective legal assistance provided by committed, creative lawyers.
Foundations, law firms, corporations, and individuals from whom we will solicit funds to support our activities. They need to perceive Chesapeake Legal Alliance as an established, credible organization that is committed to a new way to make a difference in the Bay with effective legal action.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
We have attached below a variety of photographs and paintings that convey a sense of the environment we are trying to protect. While the wildlife photographs are a bit dated, they are good examples of the wildlife that might be more graphically depicted in our logo. We particularly like the great blue heron and sailboats as symbols of the environmental and recreational values we seek to protect. Some element suggesting water would also be desirable, although not essential.
Here, also, are links to websites of several other organizations that support improvements in the Chesapeake whose logos we generally like:
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
We must have graphics that represent a commitment to a healthy Chesapeake Bay. They may represent recreation (sailboats, for example), wildlife (great blue herons, for example), and/or the aesthetic qualities of the Bay (lighthouses, for example?). They should refer in some way to clean water, but please no "drops" of water, and keep the waves to a minimum, they have become a cliche.
