LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:

Mohonk Partners is a new financial services firm that will be based in New York, NY, and the name has been service marked. The word "Mohonk" means lake in the sky in a Native American language. The name was chosen because of the partners affinity for Mohonk Lake and surrounding area that is located on the southern border of the Catskills mountain range in upstate New York. It is also part of the Shawangunk Ridge which is one of the oldest rock formations in North America.

Mohonk Partners was formed to provide innovative solutions to financial problems created by financial crisis of 2008. For example there currently exists an annual $70 billion unmet need by money market funds for counterparties to guarantee their investments. Traditional participants in the market for providing liquidity support to money market funds either have internal / regulatory challenges, shifting business priorities or cannot do additional business because money market funds must diversify counterparties. In this instance, Mohonk is a new market entrant that aggregates liquidity from non-traditional sources and intermediates the provision of liquidity to money market funds. In general Mohonk will focus on the dislocated markets created by the financial crisis of 2008 and the new financial opportunities created by the U.S. governments new financial regulations.

HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:

Mohonk Partners needs a logo that will be used as the firm's overall image. This logo will be featured prominently on the firm's Web site. It will also define the firm's colors, be used as stationary/letterhead, for business cards, in promotional materials, on office supplies, etc. Think of the logo as the firm's brand -- when it is seen, it MUST strike the viewer favorably, connote stability, a sense of community, create a sense of positive curiosity about the firm and be memorable. It goes without saying that the final design(s) need to be Vector files and must scale well.

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:

Mohonk's target audience includes the worlds largest money market funds, closed-end mutual funds, insurance companies, banks, hedge funds, private equity funds, sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, university endowments and other companies/corporations. These clients, who often have very high national and/or international media visibility and very sensitive needs, must believe that Mohonk will provide them sound financial insurance solutions and investment products that are consistent with the publics interest. The firm's image is one that communicates trust, ethics, resolve, knowledge, experience and the ability to generate outsized investment profits at minimal risk. Also, with Mohonk being appreciative of its potential clients' highly sensitive nature/issues, the firm puts a premium on being discrete and confidential in its operations.

WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:

No real boundaries here, because the logo should be unique and inspired. The colors must be strong but not overpowering or flashy. The font should be commanding yet conservative. The style should be interesting while conforming to the financial industry conservative norm. Would rather see a wide-range of proposed designs and then begin narrowing down from there.

WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:

From a design perspective, the name yields creative potential. We would like the design to connote confidence, security, a sense of community and the fact that Mohonk is innovative.

As for any colors, icons, imagery, etc., designers are encouraged to bring any and all creative and thought-provoking ideas to the competition.

A final design consideration: media platforms today evolve very rapidly, we see this with Web 2.0, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Mohonk intends to leverage existing and future communications platforms.
