Solow Literary Enterprises, Inc.
What do you do?
We are a small literary agency in Northern California specializing in nonfiction book titles of various genres. Our aesthetic is minimal, modern and classy, with a skew towards sustainability and professionalism.
What is the exact name you would like in your stationery?
Solow Literary Enterprises, Inc.
You'll receive designs for biz cards, letterhead and envelopes.
We are looking for slight redesigns for our business cards, letterhead, 3"x5" mailing labels, envelopes, and 3.5"x7.5" memo sheets.
What is your industry?
Describe the target audience for your stationery
Our clients are authors and writers, many of whom are professionals in their respective fields. We also regularly correspond with publishers and author-centric marketing and publicity firms. We use our stationary for all outgoing office mail, and our business cards are meant for a wide array of potential authors and colleagues. As such, our stationary needs to appeal to a wide array of people.
What 3 things would you like to communicate to your audience through your stationery?
We would like to match our new stationary with the aesthetic of our website - clean, inviting, and intelligent. We also want to give it a 21st-century, web 2.0 look. Finally, we want it to convey a warm professionalism that is both accessible and visually appealing.
Style and Concept
What stationery styles do you like?
We want to keep the basic style of our current stationary, but with tweaked colors, fonts, and format changes. We like the general look of our stationary now; however, there are a few issues that need to be addressed in the redesign. See our attached proofs for reference. On our current envelopes, for instance, our logo is misplaced and much larger than it should be. In the new version, our return address should be on the upper-left corner of the envelope and our logo should be smaller and located under the return address. On our 3"x5" shipping label, our return address needs to be moved from the bottom of the label to the top-left. Additionally, our logo on the shipping label should be smaller and moved to a place that won't obstruct the delivery address. We would also like to replace the font of our current stationary with one that is more modern and visually pleasing.
What colors do you want to see in your stationery?
The redesigned stationary should remain single-color and complement the color palate of our website. Thus, the new stationary should feature sage green, burgundy, or black.
What colors do you NOT want to see in your stationery?
As we want to keep our stationary complementary to our website, please limit possible colors to sage green, burgundy, or black.
What adjectives should best describe your stationery?
Minimal, modern, classy, organic, web 2.0, professional.
Do you have additional info or links you want to share?
Please refer to our newly redesigned website for an idea of our company aesthetic: www.solowliterary.com. The purpose of this redesign is to make it a bit more modern, streamlined, and 21st-century. We are open to changing fonts, as the font we currently use looks a bit dated.
Additionally, there are a few necessary format changes that must be made to our envelopes and mailing labels to bring them into compliance with USPS standards. The return address on our envelopes needs to be moved to the upper-left corner of the envelope, and our logo needs to be reduced in size. Similarly, the return address on our 3"x5" mailing label needs to be moved to the upper-left of the label, and our logo needs to be slightly reduced in size.
Please note that we are not looking for a drastic rethinking of our stationary style. We merely want to make some tweaks in terms of fonts, colors, logo sizes, and formatting to subtly improve our stationary and make it more complementary to our website.
