LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
Instructables.com is the world's biggest show-and-tell. We provide a place to see cool projects and learn new things, even if you aren't planning to build anything yourself. If you DO make things, we help you show your project off to an excited audience.
We're a small, 10-person company, and the employees are among our top contributors, often hired from the site. The site is big on cooperation and community. Members tell their stories, teach, and share - it can become intensely personal, and many people care about the site passionately.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
We've recently launched Pro account subscriptions, and want to convince both new visitors and existing free account holders to sign up for pro accounts. This will be web-only, and our site is 970 pixels wide.
We need you to completely reimagine our pitch to be more convincing and effective. Don't just rearrange our ideas - identify what you think are key features to encourage sign-ups, and re-design the go-pro page accordingly. Do people go Pro to support the site, emulate staff and high-profile members, access useful features, etc? We think Pro accounts are useful, awesome, and a fantastic deal, but how do we convey this quickly and clearly? Check out the site, form your own opinions, and create something totally different. We love having our pre-conceived notions upset.
Potential Resources: (anything from the site is fair game, but here are specifics)

Pro member testimonials:
"I have benefited from the site. I can definitely say that publishing my projects here gets them more visibility than publishing them on my own site. I've had projects published, traveled, and been paid for my contributions so it only seems right to kick some of the goodwill back. Besides, i have scored a number of instructables t-shirts - enough that i probably should pay for a few years without thinking there is an imbalance.
I really like supporting small business. I feel like it is increasingly important to support small ventures. The big companies get their bailouts and small operations are getting nothing. I'm stepping up and supporting my locally owned video store, flower shop, clothing stores and local craftsmen. And i'll also support small online ventures like this one." - http://www.instructables.com/member/ziea...
"I've been using Instructables for several years now, the extra features of a pro account are great for any user, and you will find at least one feature that makes it worth it! Personally, I chose pro as a way of giving something back for the years of service i have had, and the years yet to come. Instructables is a great site to give your projects big internet presence, via google searches, and some of the large blogs." - http://www.instructables.com/member/gmjh...
"I just decided to go pro....
Having only discovered the site a month ago it's given me hours of time wasting/entertainment since at work since then...." - http://www.instructables.com/member/jaye...
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Everyone who considers themselves creative, regardless of age/sex/income/location. This includes both new visitors to the site, and existing free account holders.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
We like clear, sleek, colorful design that's a bit playful - check out the site (esp. homepage and contests) for examples.
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
Keep it simple, clear, upbeat, and make sure any images pop. Keep words to a minimum.
