For the homepage, the big illustration behind the call to action and the explanation...and the contact us box. One idea was a guy who was being pulled by his neck, with a noose or a hook or similar, and sitting on the hook or noose was rundown house. But it doesn't have to be this visual.

Describe the target audience for your illustration
They may be educated or not, blue collar to middle class, but not necessarily very educated.They may be looking at the site on a desktop at the end of the day, or on the train, but they probably struggle with technology. Often they are middle aged, and they want things simple. They want the most basic information at their fingertips. They are so frustrated and despairing that they are willing to pay someone 65 cents on the dollar just to get rid of a problem that is on their backs. Some will lose the house anyway due to foreclosure, but this is not our biggest market. Our biggest market are folks who inherited a property in very bad condition, and don't have the funds, the time or the willingness to do a complete fix up. Or the property is far away from them, and managing the process to get it ready for listing is too complicated, and as it can take 6-9 months to sell it, this timeline doesn't fit their needs.
What 3 things would you like to communicate to your audience through your illustration?
We are trustworthy, we are empathize with your problem, and we are accessible (local). Lesser traits: we are creative in solving your problem ... and we are highly experienced doing this ... we are honest and offer a fair value for the property as is, in cash. The big illustration should be an easy visual to show you want to be rid of your burden. Could have an unwanted house, could have several words over several houses (inheritance, foreclosure ...) but better than words would be a funny visual.
