Here's the client journey on crowdspring:
1.The client completed an interactive design brief.
- The brief is customized for each project category.
- The client specifies what they want (and don't want).
- Simple and proven process (takes just a few minutes).
2.Our über-talented designers created dozens of unique designs.
In a typical Illustration project on crowdspring, many professional designers submit dozens of custom designs based on your brief. See all designs submitted to this project.
- 220,000+ designers from 195 countries.
- The client reviews & gives feedback.
- Great collaboration tools & free focus groups.

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
Jigsaw (www.jigsaw.com) is a directory of company and contact records that is built by a community of over 900K business professionals. (Think Wikipedia for business directories). Go check out the site for a better understanding (www.jigsaw.com).
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
We need an illustration of a "cartoon-like" character named Reaper. (Note: This is the third project in this series. PuzzleMaster was first and is already awarded. CrawlMaster is the second and is open concurrent with this project. I urge you to look at all three projects).
We have a three internal technologies. The first is called PuzzleMaster, the second is CrawlMaster and the third is Reaper. This project is just for Reaper. These three characters will be known externally (on our website and in our marketing literature) as "The Superheros of Jigsaw Data Quality".
PuzzleMaster's job is to piece together partial data.
CrawlMaster's job is to crawl the web for information.
Reaper's job is to graveyard contacts that are no longer at a company.
So for this project I need Reaper. This character can be male or female. To be more specific, Reaper is named after the Grim Reaper. Reaper figures out which business cards on the Jigsaw directory are no longer employed at that company - and graveyards them. The term "graveyard" in this case means the person is no longer at the company.
It is critical that each of these three characters has its own personality. But, they all MUST be of the same style. They must fit together as a group. I have attached PuzzleMaster. Use PuzzleMaster as your guide.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Our customers/members are mostly sales people, with a lot of recruiters, marketers and small business owners. We want you to think of Jigsaw as disruptive, fun, but NOT silly or adolescent. We compete with big, "old school" brands in the information industry. We want to be viewed as clearly different - light and fun, but also as a company that can be taken seriously.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
All the characters from The Incredibles. Reaper can be female or male.
Reaper MUST be viewed as "similar" to PuzzleMaster (and CrawlMaster). In the Incredibles all the characters looked different and had their own personalities, but they were all of the same style. This family of "superheros" must be of the same style.
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
Like PuzzleMaster, Reaper cannot be perceived as aggressive, edgy or violent. Characters like Batman, Spiderman, Superman, etc. are to "war-like". The Incredibles characters are softer and rounder - not threatening.
The concept of the Grim Reaper is very dark and murderous. This character cannot be viewed as scary, threatening, mean or ugly. As a non-designer this feels like a really hard project to me because you'll need to take a scary, threatening figure like the Grim Reaper and make it fun and light somehow. Real people aren't being "graveyarded" here, just data records. We picked the name Reaper for this character because it makes the concept of bad data kind of fun and funny. Reaper must have a fun personality somehow.
During the PuzzleMaster project I got a lot of very edgy, aggressive illustrations. Some were of incredible quality, but weren't what I was looking for. I would strongly suggest you review the PuzzleMaster project carefully before spending time on this or CrawlMaster (the second superhero).
Like PuzzleMaster, Reaper must be simple (clean lines) and fun, but at the same time not be silly, complicated, aggressive, mean, tough, etc. I didn't like the use of props with the PuzzleMaster design as it made the illustration too complicated. In this case I'd like to see design concepts with the scythe and without it. I'm guessing the scythe is going to be required because people would not otherwise be able to associate a reaper without a scythe.
Look at PuzzleMaster carefully. Create an illustration that fits with this design, but has its own personality, and you'll do well with this project.
Thanks for your time and consideration. Looking forward to seeing your design! Like I said, I think this one is going to be a challenge.
