LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
Jigsaw (www.jigsaw.com) is a directory of company and contact records that is built by a community of over 750K business professionals. (Think Wikipedia for business directories). Go check out the site for a better understanding (www.jigsaw.com)
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
We need an illustration of a "cartoon-like" character named PuzzleMaster. We have an internal product called PuzzleMaster that complements our membership and helps them. This illustration will be used on our website as a visual representation of this very technical product. We will also use it in Powerpoint presentations whenever we describe this product to investors.
We want an illustration of a super hero called PuzzleMaster. The closest example would be the super hero characters from the movie The Incredibles. Cartoon-like, but not silly. PuzzleMaster helps Jigsaw members. PuzzleMaster's job is to piece together data for members and provide recommendations to them. Think of him as a character who rescues a members data, or helps them figure out hard problems with their data. This data is basic company records, corporate family trees, business card records, etc.
Our audience is mostly male, so this super hero must also be male. Strong and brave, bet not cocky or arrogant. Must be a cartoon-like character that would be viewed as fun, but not silly. Not serious, but would be taken seriously. Maybe a cape? Strong chin? (Think Mr. Incredible).
This is the first time I've used CrowdSpring so forgive the ignorance of the next requirement:
We need this to be an electronic image that we can make big or small. (I'm guessing that the end result gets provided whatever file type we need, but just want to make sure the requirement is known that we'll want to present this image in different sizes). And, of course, we'll need to be able to trademark the image.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Our customers/members are mostly sales people, with a lot of recruiters, marketers and small business owners. We want you to think of Jigsaw as disruptive, fun, but not silly or adolescent. We compete with big, "old school" brands in the information industry like Dun & Bradstreet. We want to be viewed as clearly different, but as a company that can be taken seriously.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
All the male characters from The Incredibles.
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
PuzzleMaster cannot be perceived as aggressive, edgy or violent. Characters like Batman, Spiderman, Superman, etc. are to "war-like". The Incredibles characters are softer, rounder, but could still be taken seriously.
We want people to look think: "that character is a combination of clever and funny"
The illustration must be cartoon-like. We are not looking for realism.
We don't like overly complicated designs - especially the ones that take the puzzle theme to the extreme. Jigsaw tries hard for simplicity, directness, lighthearteness (but not silliness). Looking at this character must evoke a feeling of "I like this character. I'm not one bit intimidated by this character. This character can help me."
