LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:

We are creating a line of hair care products for the African-American consumer specifically for the care of dreadlocks. We are an established company with stale packaging, looking to totally revamp it's image with fresh new designs.

HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:

We need to build upon this first draft (see attached) for this product line. This product must have unisex appeal, so we need to include a male image with the female image, so that a person of either sex would pick up this product from the store shelf. Also, the face on the woman should be altered a bit so that the lower portion of the face is not jutting forward quite as much.

This combined male/female image will be used as the logo for the product line and will be printed directly onto the bottles and jars.

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:

Our target audience: an African-American woman or man, college-educated, Whole Foods shopper, perhaps an entrepreneur who hikes or bikes on weekends. Someone who likes to spend money for the newest and the best. Someone who reads ingredient labels before buying, who cares a lot about what the put in and on their bodies. Someone who wants to display their products proudly on their bathroom vanity because they know that whoever sees it will be impressed.

WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:

About the attached design: we love the silhouette idea. Perhaps the man and woman could appear together, slightly staggered in profile. The woman's head scarf could be changed to suggest something tropical.

The overall feel should be clean and simple, but should have impact. We like the general aesthetic of the Body Shop and Burt's Bees, but are open to different styles.

WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:

Please no gradients. No cartoon-like images. It's not necessary to stay with the green/black/yellow color scheme - we like the idea of incorporating red into the design. The man could have long or short dreadlocks. The image must work in color AND in black and white.

MOST IMPORTANTLY: we need this design to have shelf appeal - these products must stand out among a sea of other products on the strength of this image alone.
