What do you do?
I need an illustrator for the e book I am publishing with amazon kid creator. It is a Christmas story; therefore I need it published as soon as possible. I need a 6 yr. old unkempt, careless little girl named Bethany created. Her friend and confident is a rag doll named Redknots. Her parents are hesitant to get her the bike because they are afraid she will hurt herself. I was thinking more of a cartoony character. Her ponytails are uneven. She has scraps and bruises. For example, one cuff of her pants is down and the other is up. Her shirt hangs slanted off her shoulder. She has dark brown eyes with red highlighted auburn hair.
How many pages of illustration do you need?
What do you need illustrated?

Does your illustration need to be a particular size?
Yes, with kindle amazon e book creator I need to create my own cover in landscape mode; their cover only services portrait mode. I also have to have illustrations and text that is formatted and readable in kindle form i pad, iphone, etc. Amazon kindle suggests the smallest illustration size of 400 by 400 pixels. Full screen is 5120 by 3200 pixels in landscape mode with a ratio of 1.6 to 1.
What is your industry?
Publishing and Media
Describe the target audience for your illustration
Parent and children 5-8yrs. old. The parents have to be sold on the book to purchase for the child. That is why I feel the book cover is so important to the eye and I would love it to be as inviting and attracting as possible.
What 3 things would you like to communicate to your audience through your illustration?
I would like to communicate humor, a different spin on Christmas since the title of the book is Bethany's Bike and Santa Jail. Something on the cover that screams "read me" "buy me"!
Style and Concept
What lillustration styles do you like?
I found that working with kindergarten children they like the silly, cartoony style of books. There are certain books that they ask me to read over and over again.
What colors do you want to see in your illustration?
I enjoy all colors. Any color that promotes the book is fine with me.
What colors do you NOT want to see in your illustration?
What adjectives should best describe your illustration?
Funny, silly, magic of Christmas, elation, happiness, contentment, belief, in general. I think I gave specifics in the description of my character.
Where will you use the illustration (print, website, etc.)?
kindle, web, i pad,i phone, any application that is feasable.
Do you have additional info or links you'd like to share?
I'd like Bethany to look like she is really trying to earn her princess bike and is sincere. However, she just by nature is careless and that is part of her personality.
I may work with the awarded designer of this project on many follow-up illustrations for the book as well as a book cover.
