LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
We are a stealth startup who are rapidly developing the Wingman iPhone and Android applications.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
Please review the existing application screens PDF below, and see the 10 screens that make up the application. What we'd like from you is to provide designs for a few of the key screens, and/or some sort of overall style guide. We can then take your key screen designs and/or style guide, and use that to style the entire web app.
The key screens that provide interesting design challenges are:
Nearby Spots (generic UI)
Here's a list of all screens. By all means, feel free to provide designs for as many of these screens as you'd like:
Sign Up/My Profile
Also provide overall app branding/styling (colors, typeface, etc).
We are looking for you to understand our existing application mockups, and then be creative enough to interpret the concept, the "Wingman" name, and then make bold changes to the application interface and design. E.g. you might explore a 50s-style aeronautical concept, or do something around angel wings, or you might depart from the "Wingman" name altogether. We're looking for creativity that will make our application stand out.
We want to see some unique, engaging interface concepts that depart a little bit from standard iPhone application designs, but still fit within Apple's HIG.
Focus on the iPhone application, but also keep in mind how your designs might translate to an Android device (optimized for either Droid or Nexus One).
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Hip, well-connected iPhone and Adroid users. People who go out a lot. Users who are maybe a little bit too shy to approach that cute boy/girl at a bar or laundromat.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
Gowalla is kind of cute. Grindr is elegant but perhaps a bit to sex-focused.
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
We want to make this application to come off as more of a communication tool, and less of a dating/hookup application. Our users are cool but shy.
The winning design will have a killer "Spot: People" screen which really captures the utility of the application and the fun in "glancing" other users. We're stuck on both the "glancing" terminology (1-way glance, mutual glance, unglance). We're also stuck how to indicate the 1-way and 2-way glances on the user thumbnails.
