LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
Canivote.org is a website run by NASS (a national body representing the chief election officials of the states) and provides citizens with key Election information. Voternetwork.com is an Election Alerts Delivery platform established as a public-private partnership between NASS and Tangent Media LLC.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
The widget will perform the function of the info tool on the http://www.canivote.org website. The content categories to be included are:
- Voter registration
- Find your polling place
- What kind of ID to bring
- Absentee and Early voting
- Become a poll worker
Currently, the tool on the website uses dropdowns in each content section to let the user select the appropriate state link. However, in the widget we want to show a Zipcode field that the user needs to enter and select one of the above content categories. The widget will make a call to our CMS passing in the zipcode and will be passed back the state specific link corresponding to the zipcode and category. The user can then click on the link which will take them to the state info website in a new window.
The widget will be branded as a Canivote.org tool with subtle co-branding for Voternetwork.com. As part of this co-branding, we want the widget to include the Voternetwork Election Alerts Sign-up form (see http://www.voternetwork.com). The zipcode field should be placed in a manner that allows it to be used for both the state link selection and for the sign-up form. That way the sign-up form only needs to ask for email address and a dropdown for the birth year. We want the Sign-up form incorporated into the widget in a non-intrusive yet prominent manner with the goal of driving registrations through it.
The Election Alerts Sign-up form will be fully functional to let a user register without leaving the widget. When a user submits their information, the widget will pass it in a call to the Voternetwork registration API and will be passed back result codes. We need to be able to display error messages if the email address or zipcode are invalid. After the registration is successfully complete, users should see a success message with a link for www.voternetwork.com.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Citizens across the United States, especially in the age group of 18-24.
WE LIKE THESE EXAMPLES:
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE THIS IN OUR PIECE:
The default width of the widget will be 330px, and the height can be flexible.
Delivery format will be Layered PSD and JPG files.
We are looking for a web 2.0 look and feel.
The Canivote.org and Voternetwork logos can be picked up from the respective websites.
We require all the necessary user interface views/states:
- Main view with zipcode and content categories
- View with category content and state link after user enters zipcode and selects content category
- Sign-up form with error message placement
- Sign-up form success message
There should tool-tip (?) icons next to the zipcode, email address and birth year fields.
