What header design styles do you like?

Be CLEAR, this is not a header but a background image for the current website. We want a non busy background texture that will work with the theme of our home page. Examples include:

Probably grayscale and blue. Very subtle. Background will only be seen on edges of large monitors.

What colors do you NOT want to see in your header design?

Shades of red. Anything bright or distracting.

What adjectives should best describe your header design?

Subtle. Fun. Challenging. Empowering.

What content must be included in the header design?

Background. Subtle texture. That's it.

Do you have additional requirements or links you'd like to share?

To reiterate, this is not a header but a background image for an existing website homepage --

Brief updates

Okay, after a number of entries, it is clear that I need to be more clear on what will strike our fancy:

1) The color must be based off the homepage background or there will be too much contrast for our liking. This graphic will appear as a background on the sides for full screen viewers with large monitors.
2) The texture should be subtle but not too subtle that you cannot really see it.
3) While a texture MAY win, we would really like to see some creative that might integrate elements of BORP activities in a subtle non busy way. Some examples might be a wheel of a wheelchair, basketball floor boards as a pattern or a elements of a tri-bike.

Okay, apologies for not including this in the brief but I have not been clear on one point and keep repeating it in the feedback.

The center content of the site will remain the current color of blue on It will NOT be transparent. It is 960 px wide. The background will ONLY be visible on large monitors with the browser expanded to full size. The maximum viewable area of the background will be 1440 - 960 = 480 px or 240 px per side. So concentrate any graphic elements on the sides of the background.
