Creative brief

The buyer added updates to the brief. Read them.

What does your company do?

We are on online retailer of automotive performance parts and (some) accessories. Currently we sell on eBay, but will soon be expanding to an independent web site.

We began by specializing in a niche of the auto performance industry: import performance parts. See magazines like "Modified Magazine" and "Import Tuner" for reference. However, lately we are expanding to offer a wider range of parts to satisfy the needs of other niches within the industry, including euro, truck, american muscle, as well as a handful of more mainstream accessories such as custom fit floor liners.

The name we choose can't pigeon-hole us into any one niche. However, we're not interested in really generic names either such as Auto Parts Warehouse or Auto Anything. The name should make it clear that our focus is on performance.

Do you require that a .COM or other URL be available for the new name?

Yes, after deciding on a name, we will be registering a .com URL to begin developing.

***If you have any thoughts on how your name may be used in a great logo, please share them. We will definitely consider this when picking a name. After choosing a name, we will likely be coming to CrowdSpring for logo design as well.

What is your industry?

Describe your customers

Our customers are primarily male, aged 18-35. Most are car enthusiasts who are modifying their vehicles for improved performance and appearance. Some participate in amateur racing events, but most modify their vehicles for street use.

What 3 things do you want your company name to communicate to your customers?

-What we offer: Automotive Performance Parts and (some) Accessories
-High quality, non-generic, non-universal
-Small retailer that really knows and is passionate about performance. (This is why a generic name won't do)

List the names of your top three competitors

I'd rather not, as currently our primary eBay competitors names aren't really what we're looking for.

What character, tenor, or spirit do you wish to convey?

Name should evoke themes that are common among all the major niches of performance enthusiasts. For example, import enthusiasts generally like low and fast, while truck enthusiasts are all about sitting high and loud. If there is one thing that ties all enthusiasts together, it's a desire to make their vehicle a form of self-expression, to customize it to their individual tastes.

Brief updates

By reubens86 on 29-Apr-13 7:43 p.m. GMT
Thanks for the entries so far everyone. Here are a few things for your consideration.

-Please remember that we're looking for a name that doesn't limit us to any one niche. I've got some entries that would be good if we specialized in Tuners, Trucks, or Euro cars, but since we handle all of these, the names don't work.

-We will probably stick the word "Performance" on the end of the name that you come up with (unless the name makes it clear somehow that performance parts are what we do). Please keep that in mind when you're thinking about how the name will sound.

-Please make sure that names/domains are available before submitting. I've received some good generic suggestions like "Redline" performance, but this is a name that dozens of performance shops accross the country are already using.

-I'm interested in seeing some suggestions that incorporate the words "Form" and "Function". Form vs Function is a debate that is ongoing in the auto community. For example, do you build a car for "show" or "go". I'm interested in names that may strike a balance. Just an idea.

-Also, after reviewing the entries, coined names that combine words tend to catch my attention.

These are just suggestions, and I don't want to limit your ideas. Please feel free to disregard everything I said above if you think you have a great name idea. THANKS!
