Below is a sample of the information they compiled. Delivered poorly or without nuance, brand messages geared toward millennials will devolve into self-parody, or even worse, ham-fisted caricature. Forbes magazine <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/ajagrawal\/2016\/08\/03\/6-things-to-know-about-marketing-to-millennials\">expounds on this idea<\/a>, writing:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>This is the number one thing you need to know about millennials. They are not like other generations in that they are a simple demographic. You have to drill down deep into the millennial generation to come up with the right marketing campaign for you.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>There are, however, some striking, fundamental similarities amongst millennials. Engage with them on their own terms on services they prefer.<\/p>\n<p>Use <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crowdspring.com\/blog\/6-experts-predict-the-digital-marketing-trends-for-2017\/comment-page-1\/\">blogs, social media posts, podcasts, ebooks, and especially video<\/a>\u00a0to publish content that is meaningful and actionable. Invite customers to create and share their own content as well, and consider\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.atairbnb.com\/belo-report-new-airbnb-symbol-infographic\/\">letting people remix and revamp your content<\/a> to make it truly their own.<\/p>\n<p>According to Hubspot\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stateofinbound.com&amp;sa=D&amp;ust=1497026022195000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGF_thI4TP3CRDmiVeb3vqrhZu3PQ\">The State of Inbound 2017<\/a>\u00a0report:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>66 percent of millennials follow a company or brand on YouTube, and<\/li>\n<li>60 percent of them would rather watch a video than read a newsletter.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Video demos are especially effective: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/millennials-turn-to-video-when-making-purchases-says-new-animoto-data-300103094.html\">Animoto found that 85 percent of millennials<\/a>\u00a0found video demos useful, and a whopping 264 percent are more likely than baby boomers to share videos about a product.<\/p>\n<p>One way to generate video content is by inspiring consumers to create their own. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aimia.com\/content\/dam\/aimiawebsite\/CaseStudiesWhitepapersResearch\/english\/Aimia_GenY_US.pdf\">44 percent of millennials<\/a>\u00a0are willing to promote brands on social media and other platforms. Try using an incentive or rewards system to get video reviews and other user-generated content from your followers, and be sure to leave virtual feedback on any content being created.<\/p>\n<p>You can also generate quality content directly &#8211; here are examples of individuals and brands with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crowdspring.com\/blog\/youtube-channels-for-entrepreneur-small-business-success\/\">strong video content on YouTube<\/a> for small businesses and entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n<p>Who doesn&#8217;t get excited about having their posts liked and commented on? In fact,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/vivipins.com\/millennials\/\">over 90% of millennials feel it\u2019s very important for a company to give back to society<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And if you&#8217;re frustrated that your traditional and online advertising isn&#8217;t working with millennials, you&#8217;re not alone.\u00a0Millennials believe that advertising is largely spin, and definitely not authentic. Tellingly, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/danschawbel\/2015\/01\/20\/10-new-findings-about-the-millennial-consumer\/%236b956b0d6c8f&amp;sa=D&amp;ust=1497026022210000&amp;usg=AFQjCNFPMawNaWLlunBa4ZapkzrAwI10eA\">43 percent of millennials rank authenticity over content<\/a>. They trust relevant, authentic opinions from real product users they can relate to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>84 percent of millennials say user-generated content has at least some influence on what they buy,<\/li>\n<li>73 percent say it\u2019s important to read others\u2019 opinions before purchasing, and<\/li>\n<li>Only 1 percent of millennials surveyed said that a compelling advertisement would make them trust a brand more.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Millennials are also more likely to both show their purchases to friends and write product reviews, perpetuating the share-purchase-share cycle.<\/p>\n<h2>Generation Now<\/h2>\n<p>As of April 2016, the number of millennials in the US surpassed baby boomers and generation X to become the largest demographic in the US.
