Coffee is a huge deal over here at cS headquarters… it’s how we stay awake to provide you the best online marketplace for creative services! 🙂 So I always love seeing new coffee company projects on the site. River Moon Coffee Roasting Company is an online wholesale retailer of green coffee beans based out of Stillwater, Minnesota in the St. Croix River Valley.
Geoff and Juanita, founders of River Moon Coffee, posted a logo project on crowdSPRING and received over 200 entries! The award went to ctill3333! They want to focus on the visual appeal of their website and e-commerce of their virtual store to succeed with their business and are eager to get their logo up and running!
I got a chance to speak with Geoff and here is what he has to share with all of you…
1. How did you get things designed before crowdSPRING?
This is our first project!
2. Why in the world did you decide to use crowdSPRING?!
We thought that crowdSPRING would be a perfect fit for us based upon the recommendation of our web design consultant who had previous experience and very positive results with another client who is also from our area, and is emphasizing the virtual store front as a large driver in their business model. We thought that an experience with crowdSPRING would be really eye opening, as it would present an opportunity to be receptive to the creative ideas of many “creatives” based upon the parameter of sketching out a few definable criterias for artists to explore. The results that we got back were, needless to say, phenomenal!
3. What’s the single best small biz resource that you’ve found (magazine, website, blog, etc.)?
As far as good resources for starting a small business venture and finding good resources to draw knowledge from, we think that hiring a really good consultant who has had previous experience and financial success in a relevant enterprise can be extremely valuable. We have found that sometimes you have to persist and knock on a few doors, but that by and large, there are great people out there with good experience that are really willing to share sound advice. You just have to constantly keep an open mind, step outside of your own perceptions, and be willing to think outside of the box!
4. If your best friend told you they were going to start a business, what’s the ONE piece of advice you’d give them?
… overall, stay awake, be present, and let the dream of actualizing your vision unfold!
I would tell them first and foremost to really understand who their customers are going to be, and then give a lot of thought as to how they are going to tell their story. Having the ability to listen, and set personal passions aside can really help too!
