PLEASE READ - ________________________________ Some things you should know about how I approach things here: ________________________________ •• I prefer to work on projects that have closed galleries and guaranteed awards. Afterall, if you make a commitment to the process, then I am much more likely to make a commitment as well. ________________________________ •• Closed galleries in my mind afford the greatest scope of objectivity, while preserving the integrity of each individual submission from each individual designer. While it is good for a designer to see designs that a client responds to - positively or negatively - a well maintained project should involve healthy dialogue between a designer and project manager/client thus minimizing wasted time or misunderstandings regarding the expected outcome. ________________________________ •• As a client, if you aren't willing to contribute the process and engage with designers whose submitted designs have caught your attention, then you are quite honestly wasting your time and money. A well written creative brief is a great start, but there truly is no substitute for good ole' conversation. ________________________________ •• And also, please keep in mind it is a process, and for the best outcome, it should involve both parties - the designer and the client.. ________________________________ •• About website design: I tend to stay away form website projects here at Crowdspring because I believe that first and foremost, a website must address usability and a focused goal for a visitor. Without addressing this, it is likely that someone will visit your cool website and leave if they haven't been provided an easy and engaging way to do what you'd like them to do. After this has been addressed, the look and feel should support this to an end result. In the 20 years I've been doing web development, I cannot say that a creative brief can support that process well enough on its own, and result in a site that functions exactly the way it is expected. There are just too many variables that must be addressed. ________________________________ •• This is not to say that someone couldn't design a cool looking website, adhereing to basic usability convention, but I feel the true value of a well thought out website and its inherent suability requires much more dialog and collaboration than is facilitated here. ________________________________ And here is my bio: Seasoned creative services veteran with over 18 years experience in advertising and marketing. Extensive experience focusing on creative direction, art direction and graphic design for a variety of consumer industries. Proficient in director-level initiatives including industry/cultural trend analysis, strategic development and communications planning. Skill set includes identity design, web design, brand positioning, Internet strategic/creative development, B2B, brand strategy, and customer relationship marketing. Extensive experience in brand development, product and service naming and go-to-market strategy. Able to grasp complex technological and business concepts quickly and direct team through creative, innovative solutions planning and execution that is on-target and realistic to implement. ______________________
