What2Do

What do you do?

This design is for a demo that will be used in a graduate school project--therefore, once the design is selected, WE NEED FAST TURNAROUND. The What2Do website helps people figure out what to do in Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia. It is an event planner for 2 or more people, and can take into account a user's preferences (e.g. "I like Italian food" or "I like jazz music"). It allows a user to make one of three choices from the home page, and then it gets more complicated from there. It aggregates data from multiple other websites and allows users to add things (restaurant reservations, concert tickets, transportation) to a shopping cart.

Do you have a desired website screen size?

This site should be designed for 1024 x 768.

How many pages (maximum of 4) do you need designed?

4 pages: (1) Home page, (2) "Enter your preferences" page, (3) Results page, (4) Checkout page. The details for each page are in the attached document.

What is your industry?

Entertainment and Sports

Describe the target audience for your website design

We are targeting user's between the ages of 17 and 65, who are looking for things to do in Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia, USA. This could be a married couple, a couple who is dating, a group of friends, or a parent who is looking for something to do with their children.

What 3 things would you like to communicate to your audience through your website design

(1) If you use this site, you will have a great time.
(2) What2Do is the only place you need to go to plan a good time in the District, Maryland and Virginia.
(3) You can create a profile and enter your preferences, and the site will suggest things that you will like.

How is your company different from your competitors?

We don't really have any competitors--there is no one else who is trying to do what we are doing.

What website design styles do you like?

Apple.com
The Dell.com website--the ability to customize a computer is a nice example of a good interface to accommodate a lot of different choices
The "Plan Builder" is the perfect example of the tabbed interface that we want on our "Preferences" page: http://weplanit.com/members/you-plan-it/plan-bu.... A screenshot of the tabbed interface that we like is in our attached design document.

Brief updates

28-Oct-12 12:11 p.m. GMT
My team will be meeting on 10/30/2012 to select a design, so we are going to extend the deadlineto 10/30/2012 to allow as many people to give us their designs as possible.

We have a big storm coming our way in Washington, DC, and we may lose power. It is possible that we won't be able to post our decision until later in the week.

Once we post our decision, we need to have the final files within 3-5 days.

Cheers,
Jessica

I'm in Washington, DC, and we have a big storm coming. We may lose power and that may delay my ability to select a design. If you don't hear anything from me, be patient! I will make a selection as soon as I can after the end of the project.

Cheers,
Jessica
