Creative brief

The buyer added updates to the brief. Read them.

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:

Focus for Humanity is a non-profit organization that provides grants to aspiring photographers working with our planet’s most vulnerable peoples. Through the awarding of grants, our global foundation helps photographers transition to full-time work as travel / humanitarian photographers, and connects them to non-government organizations (NGOs) who need photographic talent to tell their stories.

HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:

We want the look and feel to be cutting edge, contemporary yet remain sophisticated and not be too wacky! I hate to use the term web 2.0 as it is so over used, but typically these sites have clean, contemporary palletes, good use of space, callout, clever imagery etc.

Ultimately we will be using a heavily customized version of wordpress to run the site, but we do NOT want any designs that are just blogs in disguise. We aim to use AJAX and other client side technology to allow for a degree of interactivity, sophistication and customization. We will use widgets too.

We need the Home Page, an example of one of the Donation pages and an Account page.
Please submit your entry showing both applications. The final product should be delivered as a layered PSD file, scalable Adobe Illustrator file, and hi resolution jpeg.

We have given some thought to layout (See attached workflows), an most of the ealy phase of the site is scoped out in the document.

The sort of high impact marketing we will do is typified by the attached pdf - this is the sort of thing we are sending out to our professional and existing humanitarian photographers to seek their support.

We have also provided a few images that you can use for header images, places holders etc.

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:

Photographers, Travel enthusiasts, Readers of magazines such as Conde Nast Traveller, National Geographic, Time etc

WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:

www.preemptivelove.org - Good benchmark. Clean contemporary, good use of space; web 2.0 style graphics; goof use of images, some widgets etc

www.crowdspring.com - Good contemporary palette, web2.0 fee. Corporate yet cool

www.justgiving.org. - Their Donation pages are Best in class. (We have attached some screenshots below). Whilst we don't want to copy this verbatim, we must be as clean, as good in terms of user design as their donation process.

WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:

GOOD - following the brief; good use of colours (but not overkill);

BAD - Cartoons, illustrations, not following the brief or producing anything that vaguely resembles one of those templates you can buy (don't even think about it - I've looked at most of them!)

Brief updates

WE ARE EXTENDING THE TIME AVAILABLE DUE TO THE FIASCO WITH THE CROWDSPRING MIGRATION TAKING SO LONG

New DUE DATE FOR PROJECT IS 22 DEC

Also we like this design - in terms of the use of colours, clean contemporary look (bit sure about the pink though!)

We will be extending the deadline by another day to 23rd Dec to make up for the fact that Crowdspring stripped all the attached files when they went through their chaotic upgrade.
