Brilliant new cup package needed!

We need a structural package design for a cup with such a shape that will leave people without words, or at least, with many questions, like: “what is this?”, “what kind of product is inside this?”, and “I've never seen this before, is it something edible?". The product itself is going to be consumed with a spoon, like yoghurt.

More details in the private brief…

The brief: investigate and push the boundaries in term of packaging structure. This new brand is establishing itself with novel packaging, breaking some of the rules of its category and is now looking for the ‘what next?’
Format for delivery: 3D sketches, including details on opening/closure mechanism when required.

Luxury Vibrator / Intimate Massager Designs

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:

We are a new company focused on developing the next generation of luxury vibrators and intimate massagers.

HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:

We are in need of a designer who can take renderings to the CAD stage.

We are looking to develop a a new vibrator primarily used for clitoral stimulation.

We would like the design to be elegant and sleek.

We would like the controls of the vibrator to be ergonomically positioned.

Most vibrators on the market today are not ergonomically designed.
- Buttons situated in a way which requires the user to be holding the vibrator upright to see and adjust.
- Buttons too small or close together
- Buttons in places where a user naturally places their thumb or fingers during use. - leading to unintentional adjustments.

We would like a designer to consider the following in his/her designs:

- Using a knob joystick placed at the end of the vibrator. The joystick would be same shape as the head of a pawn piece in the game of chess. The user would manipulate the joystick in different directions in order to control the speed and vibration pattern of the vibrator.

- In addition to elongated shapes designed for penetration, we would like to consider clitoral only vibrators that are shaped more like a tongue or a giant bean (see below for links to: Lelo Nea-Vibe, Phillips Sensual Massager, Sasi, Nomi Tang Better than Chocolate)

- Another design we are entertaining for a penetrative vibrator is in the form of an upside down space gun. The base of the gun handle would have the button controls. The user can hold the handle of the upside down gun to secure/move the device, while using his/her thumb to change the controls - all this while the vibrator is in use (pointed down or towards the vagina). If we go with a gun design, we would like to see some fun and retro styles.

We would like the elongated penetrative designs to conforms to a woman's anatomy. Should not look overly invasive or painful to insert.

For the clitoral only designs, we are open to any ergonomic shape (please look at Phillips Intimate Massager for visual context)

- We are also considering a dual motor vibrator. We can put the motors next to each other, or space them at both ends of the vibrator. One end can have a large vibrating surface area, and the other end can have a small vibrating surface area (more clitoral focus)

- Our products will have a soft silicone skin, but the base of the vibrator can be plastic derivative, or metal alloy.

IMPORTANT: Please pay close attention to designing the controls.
We can use the joystick knob as described above, rubber covered push buttons, rotating switch around the middle of the vibrator, or even touchpad sensors (like Nomi Tang)

I would imagine that a rotating ring or touchpad technology would make it more difficult to waterproof.

- We will have need an adjustment for both intensity and vibration.
- We will need a way to power on and off the unit. Prefer not have a separate button for this. Perhaps just hold control for several seconds to power unit on/off.
- We will want one or two LED indicators.

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:

Babyboomers, older women and couples with discretionary income to buy cool gadgets

WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:

WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:

Nothing that looks explicitly like a real penis.
Design needs to be waterproof (preferably can submerge under water)
Have an accompanying stylized charging base (will charge through induction, like an electric toothbrush)
We would like designs for BOTH Clitoral and Penetrative Shapes

We are prepared to pay more than the award amount if we choose your design(s)

Sex Machine Redesign

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:

We are an inventor and manufacturer of a robotic sex machine.
You can see our product at www.fornix.net

HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:

A redesign of our existing sex machine to appeal to both genders. Our current design is too sterile and too masculine. We would like something with little to no hard edges, softer contours, and made or wrapped with softer materials.

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:

Older Females and Couples, Gay Men

WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:

Philipe Starck contours:
http://www.hotelbarstools.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/w_w_stool.jpg
http://www.spotd.it/2009/04/milan-design-week-09-alias-sta.html

Alessi kitchen product synthetic materials
http://images.businessweek.com/ss/06/07/alessi/image/alessiimage3.jpg

Apple gadgets minimalism

Ducati Motorcycles and Aston Martin sleekness

WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:

Must be able to be manufactured cost effectively. Shapes need to be be able to created with as few molds as possible for injection molding (preferably 2 molds) Can use injection or die cast molding process for the frame. Frame can also be molded as one piece.

Frame can be made of rubber/plastic derivatives, alloys, or die cast metal wrapped in a rubbery/foam sleeve.

Frame needs to collapse into small cubic area for storage and transportation.

Ideally, one frame can be used for all sex positions: standing, kneeling, squatting, laying on back, and doggy style.

Ideally, one frame can be stationary on floor for certain positions, and also have enough reach for people positioned on a bed. Frame can either remain on the floor, be placed on the bed (surface area permitting both the frame and the person's body), or inserted underneath the mattress as an anchor.

If one frame can't accommodate all of these positions, we can create multiple frames for different uses.

We should design the frame to be as versatile as possible.

I've attached 3 files: Original frame design, and two new ergo designs: one standard, and the other for a bed.

Billy Ray's Recession Cabernet

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:

We are Contrails Vinters and we have a one time offering of 2008 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:

We need a Label Design. There will be two labels. A front which should contain the following:

Billy Ray's Recession Cabernet
2008 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
750ml
14.5% Alcohol by Volume

The back label will contain the following message which should be a good prompt for the logo design and the front label.

Let’s face it; in today’s challenging economy do you really want to spend $50 on a Napa Valley Cabernet? Of course not. You want to spend $15-$20 on a wine that should be priced $50.
We here at Billy Ray’s Recession Reds feel your pain. That’s why all of our premium quality Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot is priced to help make this tough time a little easier and a lot happier!
All of our wines have spent 12 -14 months in new French oak and have been lovingly handcrafted in small lots of less than 100 cases.
Perfect with your favorite red meat or your recent pink slip!
Billy Ray’s Recession Reds.
Seriously affordable wines for seriously bad times!

These may not be the exact words, but you get the picture.

We will also need this government warning:

GOVERNMENT WARNING: according to the Surgeon General, women should not drink alcoholic beverages during pregnancy because of the risk of birth defects. Interestingly, if it weren’t for alcohol most women wouldn’t be pregnant.

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:

Red wine drinkers looking for a good wine at an affordable price.

WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:

See above.

LG Design the Future Competition

Your assignment: imagine the future of personal mobile communication.

LG Mobile Phones is partnering with crowdSPRING to announce a new competition to define the future of personal mobile communication. If you are a U.S. resident (citizen or green card holder) age 18 (or age of majority in state of residence) and older, you can have a chance to design your vision of the next revolutionary LG mobile phone and compete for more than $80,000 in awards. Exercise your creative imagination and let your ideas be heard. You don’t have to work for LG to make an impact on the future of personal mobile communication!

What we’re looking for:

Predict what’s next. What do you think mobile phones should look like in 2, 5, or 10 years? We are asking for your help. We’re NOT looking for a long list of specs or phone ideas that already exist. We’re looking for a cool new concept or “big idea” supported by usage scenario illustrations. Understand how your idea will be judged, and increase your chances of winning. Keep in mind, the LG logo must be included somewhere on the phone you’ve designed. Use the logo files provided (one is for light background and one is for dark).

Judging Criteria:

Need Fulfillment / Market Potential (40% weight): How well does the phone address general consumer needs / frustrations?
Creativity / Originality / Innovation (30% weight): Is the idea / design unique? Does the concept convey WOW or game-changing characteristics?
Feasibility (20% weight): Can this idea / product be realistically implemented with current or near-future technology?
Polish and Appeal (10% weight): Is the idea easy to understand and aesthetically appealing? Does it have images illustrating usage scenarios?

Submissions may be illustrated or rendered in any format - hand sketches, digital drawings, or renderings – rendering tool used will not affect judging process. You may submit as many entries as you like.

Things to avoid doing:

Innovating without any meaningful preparation, context, or inspiration typically leads to irrelevant “ideas in a vacuum”. To help you be as innovative as possible, we’ve provided a very helpful list of Tips for Submission. Read over these words of wisdom, and you’ll definitely be steps ahead of the competition!

And as a special treat, we got innovation guru Drew Boyd to teach you about inventive thinking. Here is his “Step-By-Step Innovation Method” along with a podcast specifically created for you.

Got questions or need more inspiration?

Contact LG at myidea@lge.com. You can also follow us on Twitter, and become a fan on Facebook.

REMEMBER! Even if your design is revolutionary, you’re not going to get an award if you’re NOT a U.S. resident (citizen or green card holder) age 18 (or age of majority in state of residence) and older. And, by entering a design, you agree that LG will own all right, title, and interest in the design. Feel free to review the official rules.

The winners will be announced on July 7, 2009 at www.crowdspring.com/LG/winners, so get your creative juices flowing, and good luck in the competition!
