Many thanks for this very original post. There's some great stuff here but there's also some things that just don't work for me!
Let me explain:
- the title bar is emptier than I was imagining but I think it works
- the search bar needs to be bigger
- I don't like the way the 'register', 'newsletter' and 'login' links are all in one block. Maybe separate tabs would work better?
- the breadcrumb trail works nicely. It's clear and easy to spot
- I think it'd be better to have some space between the blocks in the left column. They seem to crowded at the moment
- the font(s) are nicely chosen. Clear, business-like and easy to read
- I'm not convinced by the rounded boxes around the content blocks. I think they look a bit dated (like my prototype!)
- I like your clear tabs on the 'Most Popular News' block
- the 'Opinion Poll' and 'Latest Discussions/Blogs' blocks are missing
- I like the red/black/grey color scheme but I think it needs something more or it risks appearing too dull
- I think the icons in the 'Resource Centre' and 'Events' could be more varied and colorful. They might be a good way of adding flair to the page
