First impressions are excellent. It has a very business-like, professional feel but it isn't too dry and boring. I love the fact you've incorporated a menu into the header. This opens up some interesting options for me.
Also font choice is good, colors are clear, site title is striking, use of space is excellent, your button are perfect and the icons work well.
Having said all that good stuff, there are a few things I'd like to see change:
- I don't like the people logo in the header or the people photos in the footer. Can you think of something different?
- there is no breadcrumb trail on the page. (Obviously not a problem for the front page of the site but it's really important for all the other pages.)
- search box is a bit too small
- I don't think you need the 'register now' tab on the login block. It's already there next to 'get the newsletter'.
- Please drop the small photos in the 'featured expert' block (nice idea but I may not have enough photos in the early days!)
- There's no need to show the time in the 'calendar' block
