Thank you for your post. Overall I think there are some very good features but the design is too close to my prototype wireframe.
Here is some feedback on your design which I hope you will find helpful:
- I like the way you have made the left column clearly distinguishable from the two content columns.
- The footer is nice and clear.
- It is good that you have used text for every single word on the page (except the site name). The site name also needs to be text!
- I really like the idea of starting the site name with a logo but I'm not sure the logo you've created is relevant to "compliance" or "radar".
- I think there is too much empty space in the 'header / search / register / newsletter / log in' bar.
- The 'Industry' and 'Regulatory Area' blocks should be different to the other blocks. They should also be the same size as each other. They are effectively navigation blocks.
- Although I like the way you've got the left column to stand out from the rest of the content, I don't like the colors you've chosen. I feel they're not business-like.
- In the left column blocks, all the 'more' / 'all' links are missing
- I like the design of your block header bars - the small downward triangles that overlap with the content background are very nice.
- There are too many different colors, boldings and underlinings for the text. It's difficult to understand which words are links.
- The 'Latest Discussions' block looks out of place. It is the only one with a box around it. I don't think it needs a box.
Finally, the complete lack of icons means the site looks very dull. I know compliance is a dull subject but this site is not just about compliance, it's about helping business people who are struggling with compliance issues. The visitors will (hopefully!) find the site very exciting.
