I chose to design the level indicator in that shape as it was an efficient use of space in the droplet design. I tried a few other layouts, and that was the best way of working with the awkward droplet shape.
I think it would be clearer when animated.
I'll see what other ideas I can work out utilising the glasses of water idea.
Thanks.

Disclosure: I created everything in my entry and I didn't copy anyone else's concept. (?)
Here is a little more detail for the Aqua (Droplet) design.I have added an example of how a hovered/selected element of the navigation area would look like.
Also, when you hover over the level indicator at the top of the raindrop, the numerical level indicator on the left glows blue, and (possibly) a blue line like that shown could temporarily fade in.
Also, when the help pane is closed, the raindrop appears as on the right.
I also adjusted the logo in the top left, just to show another variation on colours of that design.
I hope you like it,
Many thanks.
