I LOVE that you've taken a risk here and tried something new. It is very creative.
Here are some suggestions you can take or leave depending on your vision for this design.
I think the menu and title in the middle of the page is a little distracting. The width of the page is also a little large.
Because the menu is so long and there isn't much content on the top section, maybe integrating the top and bottom sections will give you more space to play with.

I took a shot and tried make a different concept, tried to make the site to look more personal, has if the banner was his secretary where he writes his books, more elements could be added if you want.
The Content Part was made to be expandable, user friendly, and easy to navigate, so even less information could end up with a elegant and nice overall view of the site.
Im looking forward to hear from you with some feedback on how to achieve a perfect layout that suits all your needs!
