Disclosure: I created everything in my entry and I didn't copy anyone else's concept. (?)
Here's a concept I propose.
Features of the concept are as follows:
-the text is made of custom-drawn font made to appear chic and urban but not too techie.
-the text is written in a continuous/connected manner to convey connection with the people/users of the service.
-as you can see, the letters "u", "m", "b" and "d" forms an outline of a set of fingers with the "d" forming the "thumb". Rather than a stop gesture, the fingers appear to show an "Ok" gesture, i.e., the index finger shown touching the thumb.
-while the "thumb" or "d" appears below all the letters to convey "diving" but at the same time accomplishes to take the shape of the thumb.
-although the "i" is infused with the letter "d", one can still read the logotype as "thumbdive"
-the unique arrangement of the letters adds to the recall-ability of the logo
-finally, the letters "t" and "d" makes up for a standalone graphic or favicon (see bottom right of page) using the same layout as the logotype
I've directly taken the colors from the page provided but it can easily be changed to a different color. Just let me know.
