cool. i like the direction you are going, but beware, it is looking like comedy central's logo, especially the colors - http://www.tvsquad.com/media/2006/05/logo_ComedyCentral.jpg . look at http://paperrad.org/ for some colors and texture ideas.
also, strange reference, but look at henry darger's work - http://is.gd/59lp - for really nice color schemes. you'd definitely have to contemporarize them though.
Disclosure: I created everything in my entry and I didn't copy anyone else's concept. (?)
sooo, i added some seemingly random stuff to it (cassette tapes, vintage mic, 80's glasses and mustache etc..) and toned down the black to a dark orange to join the image and text more.
I think I still have more in me to push this farther, but thought it was a good stopping point to get feedback.
i think this project is going to be a lot of fun...!
